Immigration problems in UK....your views..Dont be racist....
What Do you think of the immigration problems in the UK? Is it getting out of hand?
No racist remarks will be tolerated so lets make this a civil one...
What do you think of England now?
I think it is becoming less and less English, with all the Politically correctness going on, and us not wanting to offend
other nationalities.
But has it gone too far now?
I dont mind if people come to the Uk to live, if they are going to work like most of us, and provide for their own families, and learn our language. But the people who are basically coming here for a freebie life, they are the one's that do annoy me.
With the state of council housing, NHS hospitals etc, i find it quite un fair on English people as we are put at the end of these waiting lists, and Immigrants are helped first in most cases.
What do you think?
And what are your experiences...?
remember keep it civil.. 😉
Wow you like your debates don't you??
I'd rather stay off this subject as it makes me 😠 lol but gonna have a read at other peoples replies 🙂
Well, being an American I can't put to much in on this one, although I have my own views about immigration in America.
I have to agree with Kelly, you do like your debates don't ya!
well i just thought this forum was a bit boring!! i just wanted to see what people would say...yeah i feel the same but that is why i said it in a civil way lol 😏
Boring, nah not us 😉 I think as a group we do sometimes avoid the "hot" topics but I don't think we're boring LOL 😉
I like a good debate myself as long as everyone can agree to disagree with out things getting heated and I think we're really good about that here at JP 😀
ID RATHER NOT GET INTO THIS ONE THANKS
as much as i love muti-cultural england/london sometime i feel abit out of place.
i sit in the hospital with 50 other pregnant women waiting to be seen by midwives/consultants etc and im the only english person in the whole room,
i take my son to the nearest park and try and start conversations with the other mummys in there but most of them dont speak english or speak very basic english so i end up sitting on my own whilst everyone chats around me in languages i dont understand,
my son trys to talk to the other children too but they dont understand him, of course you dont need to both speak english to chase eachother on the climbing frame but when he is trying to suggest they play on something else, or pretend to be pirates the other kid just stares blankly 😉
though saying that last time i went to the park i found an english speaking mummy and we swapped numbers so im hoping to meet up in the week and do some mummy stuff 😀
i dont want to get into the whole jobs/housing/etc etc side of things though as there are too many angles the issues can be veiwed from
boring? hehehehehehehehehe thats given me a giggle lololol
im not going to get into something with this one either

Ooh heck!
Well I'm a terrible 'sit on the fencer' lol.
Well To be honest most people who try to live here want a better life for themselves, who doesn't!! My husband works with a polish bloke and he says he's a sound bloke and he has recently brought over his wife and child. He rents a private house and has a good job in engineering, something thats in short supply here (people to fill the jobs that is). I've no problem there at all.
There is a few who want to live here to sponge, but there are a few people who class themselves as 'british' who sit on the dole, get a free house and want to do sweet FA too.
soup said:I never thought of it in this way, I tend to think bout the jobs etc side. Down here we don't have many. I would hate to be the only British person in a room as for your son thats got to be hard, we want them to make new friends etc esp when they start school. Glad to hear you've made a new friend 😎

I have no objection to people coming over here and working and supporting their family.
I don't agree with those who come over and do nothing and get benefits (that we pay for) I also dont agree with men who come over here and then claim child benefit, child and working tax and then sent it home to their family, I think the family should be over here to qualify for things like that.
I think it is also too easy for people to come into this country and because we make it so easy others see that and we end up with more immigrants/aslyum seekers
Maybe I will rant 😀 hehe
What annoyes me the most tbh is the whole religion stuff, we aren't allowed to wear crosses. I saw on the news that a girl at school was asked to take her bangle off as it was religlous and they had an uproar about it. Can't remember her religion but why should they be able to wear them and not us? I don't mind them living over here as long as they play by our rules. Some people make a too bigger issue out of their religion.
At work there was a guy who is from India. He was very big headed shall we say. He used to cause alot of trouble and me and him didn't get on at all. I'm on the till alot, anyhoo Sunday afternoon not very busy so I tend to pop my head out the door to see if their are any customers in the cafe, he was eating something and moaned at me for leaving the door open for too long. He said English people are 'stupid' and some other stuff. So that turned abit nasty lol. Told him if he don't like us to bugger off back to his own Country, not nice but not being called Stupid or my Country! He was over here studying Business then going back to India when he is finished, that also annoyed me
Also on my driving lesson, I was parked up and two Pakistanis where walking down the road, police car pulled them over they had only nicked LOADS of clothes. Not a few they must of had a few bags. How dare they come over to our country and do that!
Omg I am soo racist, sorry!Only been the year or so I have found myself to be lol

We are a Christian culture and people should accept our way and our beliefs etc. We have Christmas in December not a 😠 winter festival!!!!!! 😠

By all means let them wear jewelery that is important to them and let us wear our crosses if it is important to us but don't expect us to change our ways to suit them!
My real problem with the whole situation is that there are people born in Britain living in or near poverty, and that the 'government' should sort those issues out before giving priority to immigrants

I also have no problem with people wanting to come here to better their life - who wouldn't? However, i do think that if you want to live in Great Britain then you should follow our laws and make an effort to work hard and learn our language, which i think 90% of immigrants do. To be honest i think it is more us that bring these 'religious' arguments on ourselves. We are so afraid of offending people and being seen as a racist nation that we put into effect things that just aren't necessary. Take the 'winter festival' argument. I don't know a single foreign person who has taken offence at the fact we celebrate the christian festival - christmas, yet someone somewhere who is no doubt paid far too much money for doing very little has decided that this may upset non-nationals and that we should change the name???? I could go on!
Personally i think there are many, many different ways of looking at this argument. I do feel that having so many races and religions here has enriched our society, and that there are always going to be some rude and nasty people from all races and religions whatever you do. However one of the problems is at some point Great Britain is going to have to close it's doors to immigrants entering and setting up home here. After all, we are an island and there are only so many places for us to put everyone, we don't have an unlimited amount of space here! Xx

I dont think so, i find it all so unfair.
I am acually begining to hate living in England now, i jst cant bear it. 😬
At my son's school, their christmas plays/nativity's are changed to fit in other religion's stories so its all a big mixture of stories not just the christian baby jesus story.
And my son came home from school with a piece of paper with his name written in Arabic 😕 which an arabic parent had come in esp to do this with the kids. I mean what was the need?
there are so many things that 😠 me off, i also wait hours in my A+E or doctors surgery while people from other countries waltz in and out with their broods of kids in half the time that i have had to wait with my kids.
Ok if they work and pay their way and fit in with our country, no probs, but most of them dont!
that is what gives us a bad impression about them.
It makes me laugh how 😠 the english govenment is, it is becoming an actual joke, utterly unbelievable.
I am no longer proud to be english, our country is a mockery, and all these countries know it, and dont they just love it. 😬
On this i sit on both sides. My husband was born in south africa but his father was british (dual nationality) and up until 5yrs ago he lived in south africa.
He works hard and supports his family.
What i dont like is when foreigners come over here sit on their bottom and do nothing and our taxes pay for them to do this.
Also i myself have a council house at the momment but are looking to buy a place of our own but along my street i have 1 british family out of 27 houses that annoys me.
Then the foreigners get a council house invite all the family over to live with them so that they can get a council house as they are over crowded..
What i dont agree with is when people presume that all immagrants do nothing and sponge of the society they are not all like this and the majority of them are hard working. I dont min d if they come over here work the butts of and then take the money back home as after all they did earn it.
Plus i do not have facts but in my opinion there seem to be more british people on the dole than immigrants.
(if anyone can find something to prove or disprove this then please feel free to post what you find)
It seems to me that a lot of people in Great Britain obviously believe that most immigrants that come here don't want to work or pay their way. I don't have any statistics which prove or disprove this argument. However i'm not sure that most of them just come here to use our benefits system? I think there are a huge number of immigrants who are very proud people that just happened to be born in countries where it is very difficult to better themselves. The pay is awful, for very long hours, sometimes doing extremely physical work and they don't have the protection we have in this country of fair working conditions etc and that is if they can even get work at all in their country? There families are starving and they are desperate to get out and find a way to earn the money their family needs to survive. There are also immigrants from war torn countries where they take their life in their hands just to walk down the street. Where national health systems like ours are unimaginable.
Now i know there are people in this country who are also living in povety and agree these people certainly need looking after first. I also believe there are a large amount of british nationals who decide that working is not for them and want to sit on their butts doing nothing. There will always be people who want something for nothing no matter what we do and i think the 'government' should get tough on ALL work-shy lightweights taking and not giving. I don't believe you should be able to claim benefits unless you are putting someting back into society (with the exception of disability etc). Maybe these people who aren't working should be made to do voluntary work before they can pick their dole cheque up at the end of the month. However i digress, i don't think we should house all of the people in these awful situations around the world. That is not our job, but i can well understand why so many people want to come here to live and work! I think we should be grateful for the things we DO have in this country and that we have a free life to live with our families. I also believe we should all be proud to live in Great Britain. Xx
