Major surgery for Cory tomorrow (today)

Aww bless her, she does a look a bit down in the dumps. What a lucky lady to have her own chair though, Dougal has a cover we put on the sofa too! - spoilt rotten lol! Her stitches do look sore, but it's amazing how quick they can heal up. Is she eating and drinking hun? Will help keep her strength up. I want to give her a big hug, she looks such a lovely doggie! Xx

She did eat a bowl of soft food last night and has been drinking water and keeping her medicine down, passing her pees ok but not had a poo yet, not been much food in her system.

She had lost 4 lbs over the couple weeks, I think due to the discomfort of her tumor making her not want to eat. They wanted her to put that weight back on before her surgery but the tumor was getting huge and I was afraid it was going to rupture (tmi, but the top layer of her skin was sooooo stretched) I wanted to take the chance and have the surgery done as soon as possible.

We actually got 2 lbs put back on her in a few days before the surgery.... she had LOTS of people food (kinds that aren't bad for dogs of course), she got ALL of Aaralyn's left overs and I boiled chicken and rice for her, even that she wouldn't eat just before the surgery 😲 which is very unusual for her!!

That's why she looks so pathetically skinny and ribby, she is right now but we'll get the weight back on her!

Gonna go see if I can get her to eat some soft food right now, matter a fact! She's off the chair, wagging her tail next to me as I type! 😀

Glad she has eaten and had some water. Chicken and rice is dougals favourite too. She must have been uncomfortable before surgery if she didn't even want that. Most dogs wolf it down! I'm sure you will get the weight back on her soon. As soon as it is less sore i'm sure she will want to eat more again. She will no doubt want to go to the toilet then, as you said she hasn't eaten a lot so i'm sure that's why she not been out for a poo. Sounds like she is starting to perk up already though hun, so that is a great sign! Xx

She's actually been a little perkier this afternoon... I took her out for a proper walk and she enjoyed being out there it seemed 😀 She was right back up on her chair when we got back but then she got up and ate a little more. I just wish I could get her fattened back up a bit, I hate seeing how skinny she is.

I will say this for you pet owners.... a little bit of extra weight on your animals (not to the point of near obesity) can help if they ever get sick and start to lose weight. She's never been a real "hefty" dog, but a little more weight on her to start with would have helped. She's 12 now, I'm spoiling her rotten and the "no people food" rule is out the window LOL!! (Mike's a real stickler to that rule! he told me I can't tell Barkley, Sophie or Zoey that Cory's been getting people food LOL!

Roxie at one point was 'big' but because she was eating our left overs 😊 So she has her own dry food now (we find meat can make her loopy and is too rich for her belly, so she has it occasionally, like worming time lol) She has got down to a nice weight again now though but not too slim!

She's doing soooooooo much better, thank you Mandy! She's eating well, up and around alot now and going for and enjoying longer walks 😀 I think she's put a bit of weight back on and even Mike said tonight she looked "chunkier" than she did yesterday even. I did notice that in the area of one of her stitches it doesn't look so good and I've been trying to keep her from licking them alot... she may have to end up being a cone head if she doesn't leave them alone 🙁 .... We may take her in tomorrow to have it checked if it's not looking good still. Speaking of, it's 10:10 pm and I've yet to give her her last dose of antibiotic for the day (she's on a pill 3 times a day)

Awww, i love pooch smooches. . . thanks cory! lol, dougal is very excited too, he doesn't get many pooch smooches from lady doggies? hehe.

So glad she is looking better though hun and gaining weight again nicely! Maybe the vet will put a cone on her and extend her antibiotics or something if the stitch still looks a tad bad? If she is enjoying her walks and eating again i'm sure it isn't too much to worry about hun! Keep us updated on her progress hun, she sounds (and looks) like such a lovely pooch! Xx
