High heels for babies! Your views?
Just stumbled across this website selling high heeled shoes for babies
Although it's very tongue in cheek and the 'heels' are soft and only for (funny) decoration, I was still a little taken aback by the concept!
So.. a funny novelty product for laughs, or the sexualisation of children taken to an extreme?
I saw these on the Charlotte Church show a while back. Right well, i'm sure a lot of you are not going to agree with me on this one. I absolutely hate them! Why oh why? I just think kids have to grow up soooo quick nowadays. I know it is meant to be 'tongue in cheek' but to me it is just nasty. I hate seeing little tiny's in mini skirts and crop tops too! There is plenty of time for that when they are older. People nowadays seem to treat their kids like their fashion accessories? I do like my kids to look nice, and they both have far too many clothes and shoes. Especially my DD who LOVES her shoes! but there are some lovely cute baby clothes and shoes out there. Why dress them as tiny adults? Maybe i just don't get it? 😕 Xx
🙁 let kids be kids 🤔
I agree with both posts above!
I think it's ok for 3ish and up to have "dress up, princessy" stuff, ie: some of the shoes have heels on them (although I think little girls walking in even them can be a danger, they are a bit wobbly) but I think the heelarious shoes for babys should be called hideous shoes... they are ugly and unnescesary in my opinion....
As far as dressing little kids as mini adults, I find anything that is provocative in any way does not belong on a child. Aaralyn has little mini skirts and such but nothing that isn't little girly, she never wears shirts that bare her midriff, I just find it unnescesary and I think appropriate 2 piece bathings suits are ok on little girls but some of them out there are way too "sexy" for the age group they are made for. The first time Aaralyn had a 2 piece swim suit on she said "but mommy, my tummy is showing" LOL... I told her it was ok, because the swim suit was cute and appropriate.
there's my 10 cents on that (cuz it never ends up being just 2 cents with me huh! 😇 )
I am actually surprised there is a market for these shoes as every forum I have been on or parent I have spoken to hate them.
I become quite frustrated when I cannot find what I deem appropriate clothes for my ten year old. I really hate today's fashion for pre teens. Also all this playboy stuff for little girls that has hit the shelves. 😛
SeaThreePeeO said:That's a huge trend here again too, playboy bunny stuff, however that's a bring back from the 80's because (and some of you have seen pics LOL) I had a few items of clothing with the bunny logo on them at about age 14/15... at that age, though, I was not allowed to wear anything really sexy or provocative and I had to put my make up on after I left the house and out of my dad's site 😉

i agree with u all i think they are pathetic and look stupid
xxx
Have you seen the price of them? £35.00! Obviously marketed for the more money then sense brigade.
I don't like these at all - I really struggle to find 'pretty' girly clothes - dislike black on young children too.
Martha loves girly dresses which is good
They do log cute but i dont think its anything for kids.
Seems like everyone has the same opinion as me then! I find the concept of dressing young people up like adults to be quite disturbing, and whilst this product seems like harmless fun to the makers and their customers, I think it sends totally the wrong message out to parents and the public.
When teens reach sexual maturity it opens up a whole world of self conciousness and trying to attract the opposite sex - why would any parent want to prematurely expose their kids to that? What happened to childhood innocence I say.. Looking back to my own childhood I can't see why you wouldn't want to hold onto that as long as you could! lol
What rubbish, why cant we just let kids enjoy being kids there is plenty of time when they are older for things such as high heels.
omg!! theyre horrendous!!!! can see these going down a storm with the chavs of the country though lol
I just think they are sooo awful and I can't imagine why anyone would buy them! that said I have recently been inseveral high street stores looking at the childrens ranges and franly they are no better. I wanted to buy my 8 year old neice a pretty swimming costume, apparently the only swimwear they see for young gurls these days are bikini's with moulded cups to make it appear as if they have cleavage. If that's not encouraging the sexualisation of children at a ridiculously young age, i don't know what is.
I know what you mean Hannah.
Recently I have terrible trouble finding swimming costumes for my 2 and 10 year old girls. The racks where mostly full of bikinis!
At 2 and 10 they don't even have what you require to keep the bikini top in place. I had visions of taking htem swimming and forever having to adjust their tops!
they look a bit chavy too me but would work well with the pierced ears lol
Crazy 😲
No NO NO!!!
I'd want my baby to look like a baby, it's not like they wear booties for long as it is, gross 🤢
Charlotte has the dress up heels, but thats the limit at 4 for me!!
my lil girl is growing up too quick as it is without forcing the matter. i think they are tacky and just a stupid idea they're horrible. 😠
they are sooo cute 😀 NOT!!!
why can't people just let babies be babies? Why do they feel the need to make them older before they need to? Kids grow up so fast as it is, let them enjoy being children and having things to look forward to.
