Soup whats happened

sorry everyone but things have been pretty hectic

a midwife came on sunday and weighed charlie and he had lost over 10% of his birth weigh and he had some jaundice still (which we thought was normal) so she asked us to take him in

we did and they admitted him,the doctors had to put a line in him. They tried for over 15 mins they were bending his hands over really hard trying to get the needle in a vein and the whole time charlie was screaming. I had to leave the room and take victor out as it was so upsetting. I couldn't stop crying or shaking. Eventually they got the line in his arm
he was ok whilst they collected drips of blood for tests but it was horrible seeing him smeared in blood.(the two doctors made a real mess of it) He is also connected to a breathing monitor which clicked everytime he breathed and a heart rate and oxygen levels thingy.

his 1st bloods came back all fine and his second bloods the next day came back fine aswell - so all those needles were a waste of time just like we thought 😠 its perfectly normal for a 6 day old baby to have a touch of jaundice still, my nhs book says not to worry untill 14 days

i got some help with feeding him because i think the midwife was worried my milk had not come in, and ive been feeding constantly trying to get his weight up

which is why ive not been about - i dont get 10 mins to myself anymore i have charlie attached to me at all times almost

He looks like such a strong little guy with his little hands all fisted up I can imagine him fighting the putting in of the needle like that! You got a tough little dude there Soup!! 😍

Looking at the pics he doesnt look that yellow but it may just be the light...

The midwife was just doing her job we had the same with my twins as they had lost a lot of weight...

Aww so pleased to hear all is ok now 😀 . We were all worried about you and charlie. I know just how you feel with the line. Lolly had to have one at 24hrs as they found i carried GBS and wanted to give her antibiotics as a precaution. It was horrid. At least little charlie won't remember it though hun! I'm sure he will start gaining weight again soon hun 😘 😘 Xx

Austin had jaundice really bad, and like u said he is only 6 days old nothing to worry about just yet. Glad to hear that everything is ok.
