JustParents 2007 Charity - Nominations!
We'll be shortly looking at sponsoring a charity for 2007 and fundraising during the course of the year in various ways.
If there's a charity you'd like to nominate to be considered then please post in this thread! We're just as likely to look at small local charities as national organisations, so if there's a charity that's close to your heart then let us know!
god that's a hard one, as there's lots of deserving charities out there.
will get my thinking cap on and get back to you
I think as a parenting site it should be something for children
RSPCC (or SSPCC)
National autistic society
research into Cot deaths

NSPCC is national society for prevention to cruelty to children.
RSPCA is the royal society
SSPCA is the scottish society
Im sure the 1st 2 dont work in Scotland other than that dont know the difference
yeh any childrens charity would be lovely idea.
I would think a charity like Ronald McDonald House would be a great partner for a site like this.
When my children's special needs have required that we lodge in a RMDH they go out of their way to help my whole family. Being able to give back and see the direct results would be a wonderful use for such a site charity.
id like to say the meningitus trust my first born passed away to this horrible thing cumin up 6 years so this is very close to me and personal 😢 🙁
make a wish foundation
One very close to my heart as these people put us up whilst my son was very sick in intensive care back in March 2006:
CLIC? Cancer and Leukaemia in Children

Ronald McDonald House
Thanks so much EveryRose for posting a link to a Ronald McDonald house in the UK. I have stayed in RMDH in the USA when my children are sent to see doctors no where near our home.
The work done for families in Ronald McDonald houses is remarkable and heartfelt. Being able to have a direct effect on making whole families feel comfortable and cared for is such a worthy cause.
I have to put forward a very small and very needy charity called Vision Aid, based in Bolton. They are there to advise, support and do all they can for families with children who have a visual impairment/blindness.
Set up by a mum who's daughter was blind they are truly amazing people, and were the only ones who took Taylor (my daughter) when she was little and said something good about her - which after being told doom and gloom for months was THE most amazing thing - they knew what she was capable off, and that blindness wasn't the end of the world. They travelled up from bolton to the NE of scotland with a huge van full of equipment, most of it they left for us, and gave me the hope and in that the strength to get through it and not just cope with my daughter and wrap her in cotton wool, but to push her out there and allow her to be independant - and now she is (a bit too much sometimes LOL) they almost folded last year and we did a lot of fundraising for them, but they get no where near enough money as they should do, and rely soley on donations and fundraising.
I couldn't have got through having my daughter with them, so i think they deserve it 😇
i agree, childrens charitys BUT the children need their parents, so my vote goes to Cancer Research 🙂

Kiddies need their mommas 🙂
is anyone running for cancer research this year? i really want to but im disabled 🙁 will they let me do it in my wheelchair?
You can ask the organisers of the runs closest to you if it has wheel chair access. When I did it two years ago in Brighton there were lots of grassy hills so that wasn't disabled friendly but some are. Sign up quick if you want to do it as they only have limited numbers and you'd be surprised how quickly they reach their cut off point. GOOD LUCK 🙂
