Mothers who have concieved shortly after giving birth

Hello, I am 23 year old mommy and yet again blessed with a baby on its way! I recently gave birth last March 31, 2015 to my third daughter. I am a bit worried this time though because after 5 months my hubby and I were able to concieve again. Yes, baby is unplanned but most welcomed. I would love to read other experiences and if there is a risk of giving birth shortly after another.

I really can't see a problem with 5 months between birth and another conception. Many people decide that for whatever reason (for the kids to be more bonded, age of parents, etc.) that they want to have their children close together. Actually I've heard of it happening a lot lot sooner than 5 months.

Now that I'm thinking about it, my two youngest brothers are close in age like that, and I can't think of any problems they had... they liked it and there were no medical issues.
I'm not aware of any additional risks but there's only one way to know for sure... ask at your next prenatal visit to put your mind at ease. If it had been like 1 or 2 months, I would have a different answer, though, of course.

My kids are about one year apart only now did I get pregnant right after. I was told I have higher risks in bleeding amd besides the risks that come with a very low BP.

I have three daughters and will soon find out if I will be having another girl or boy. But i've noticed that I am alot more fragile than my past pregnancies. I cannot stress and move fast because it causes pain in my lower abdomen.

Here's a link from a blog I read - it has the pros and cons of different child spacing. As it turns out there's good and bad with every age gap! But there might be a few things you want to specifically look out for.

That news really scares me a lot. I had a nasty experience while giving birth because the labor was over 12 hours and the entire process still scares me. I almost conceived months after giving birth and I couldn't handle the thought which made me wean my baby faster and jump onto birth control pills.

I prefer to have special time for all my children; I never want one to feel his attention has been taken by another. That is the reason why I want them to mature before another one comes in. But if conception takes place, all one can do is adjust.

Hi! First of all, congratulations on your new baby. I hope he or she becomes healthy as can be.:)

Now, with regards to your question, is there any risk at conceiving shortly after just giving birth? Well, if you gave birth via CS, it's not really recommended to conceive again shortly after. You would need to wait at least three years before deciding to get pregnant again. That's really the only issue with it I see.

Since you've conceived after five months, I think your uterus and cervix are already healed by this time. If you became pregnant eight weeks and below after you gave birth, that's when the chances of infection are higher. But again, with your case, it's not like that.

Hi! I hope you are getting on with your pregnancy quite well. And I see no problem in conceiving another one in a five-month interval. My mom conceived my brother a month after she gave birth to me. And our eldest was 16 months old when our mom had me. Apart from the lack of help after having 3 babies in 3 consecutive years, there was no problem with her physically. She's a strong woman, physically, mentally and emotionally. She often says it's just a matter of how you look at things. Rather than sulk and be negative, she just makes things happen; more so when my dad passed away unexpectedly when I was just 9 years old. She made sure she was productive and managed her time well even up to now that she is retired and just relaxing. But of course, make sure you find time to keep fit and take good care of yourself in the process. All the best to you!
