Trying for a specific gender?

Did any of you follow any specific guidelines for trying for a particular gender? I only have one baby, and we didn't try anything specific -- I am not fussed as to whether we have boys or girls, healthy babies are the main thing on my agenda! In saying that though, we had a girl and I think my hubby would be keen for a boy, next - although of course he would be thrilled with another daughter, too (that daddy-daughter bond is soooo adorable!)

I know there's a bunch of old wives tales and things like that about conceiving a particular gender, but did you try any? And did any of them yield you any success?

I had heard some of those old wives tales, too, but never did anything or "tried" any of them. I doubted, and still do, that there was anything to it.

The one I remember most was that you should eat and drink more dairy products if you wanted to conceive a girl. Well, I concluded that was silly because you already had a 50-50 chance of having either gender *before* eating more dairy.

Besides, I tried for 5 years to get my daughter here, so doing those things to pick a gender just didn't appeal to me because I was pretty well convinced that I wouldn't be getting pregnant.

I have been doing some research on this vary thing as I want to have a daughter myself. I have found at least one site that has promises but I would like to hear about it from people outside of the site its self.
There is always one sure way to pick and that by doing IVF with gender selection, its the only 100 percent way to go

I wouldn't mind having twin girls next. After having one boy who is the naughtiest creature on the planet, I am shying away from having any more male children. Honestly, I don't think I have the stamina to handle another male child.
I look forward to having twin girls and the reason is; girls are calmer than boys, if they do come in multiples, they would be able to relate with their brother and leave we the parents out of their business. My hopes though, don't know if it will happen. Though I intend to try the old wives tale of taking multiple dairy and yam consumption 😀

Not all girls are calmer than boys, darkchild. My son is calm and easy going. My daughter is crazy. Children have different personalities, and gender only plays a very small role.
I wasn't even aware there were ways to try for a specific gender. I've heard there are ways to tell (Wedding ring on a string, etc), but even if I had been aware I wouldn't have tried. I'm good with whatever the good Lord chooses to give me.

Good luck with your plan, darkchild, but... uh... let's just say that I have some nieces that could run rings around my nephews in the naughtiness department.

I think some children are calm and some are... well, not calm. My daughter was "calm, cool, and collected" for a little while... then became more "touchy" and then back to calm, so I think gender doesn't really have a lot to do with it.

I agree! My daughter at one is already showing signs of being a little firecracker and keeping me on my toes - she has quite the temper already, or so people say (I like to say feisty rather than using the words "has a temper" like some others have said!)

In comparison, my nephew is the most chilled out little boy ever. I don't think I've ever seen him get really mad. He's three now and everyone has always said how his personality and demeanour was always so relaxed and calm!

I totally understand preferring or wanting one gender over another. We all kind of have a vision in our minds of what our family will be before we actually create it. For me, I change my mind so much that I was comfortable just going with whatever came our way. I ended up with 2 beautiful girls and I wouldn't have it any other way. I almost feel like if I'd "tried" for one gender or another, I'd have messed up what was meant to be.

Hi everyone, i had 4 boys then went on to have a girl. The only difference was that shortly before my daughter was concieved my other half was quite ill and had been on antibiotics for a while. Bloody shock to the system i can tell you! A girl after so many boys xz

I have three daughters and recently found out I will soon be having a son. Now my hubby has the strong belief it is because we had tried something new which literally made my knees buckle out and me falling to the floor. So hence to the success of a baby boy. Now hubby's ego has sky rocketed for those two simple reasons.

Hello, all out there. We no more live in the world of gender-conscious parents. Daughters and sons are both integral to a happy life. Sons add action and daughters add sophistication. Once I was also among those parents who wanted to have a daughter after two sons. It took four years to add a fairy to the family. Although we cannot ensure that the effort of conceiving a baby girl is 100% successful but at the same time we cannot lose hope either. When we decided to have a daughter after two sons we went to see our gynecologist. We also consulted some books. Every consultation leads to a single note, some minor changes in the lifestyle. It is very important to keep track of the ovulation days. the couple must make love 4 days prior to the ovulation period. Start having sex almost every day after your monthly cycle ends. Try switching to a sex position with the minimum penetration. Grab the alkaline testing kit to check the vaginal pH. Move away from meat and add veggies that keep your vagina on the acidic side. I have suggested you these on the basis of my own experience. Good luck!!!
