Jo Frost- extreme parenting

Is anyone watching this on a Tuesday night?

I have just watched this Tuesday and her experiment about over feeding our children.

I was horrified that, according to her and the dieticians, I am over feeding Joseph. I can't believe that with those little Chiargo town pizzas, that the average 8year old should only get 1/4 of it along with a small amount of chips/beans or similar. I give Joseph the whole thing with about 8chips and a spoon of beans. I do still use a side plate to put his food on like they said ( so at least I am doing something right) but I am still horrified that I am over feeding my son.

She could stop stuffing the pies in herself really

I did think that but then I can't speak!

My children love their food and I think with the energy they use for playing and learning added with the fact they are growing I think they need to be well fed. If I limited my kids portions the way she said they'd be wasting away. I also agree she is certainly no waif herself and am I right in thinking she doesn't even have children of her own?!? That's the trouble with these 'Text book' experts, all theory no practice!!
As long as they are getting a balanced diet kids should not be denied food, mine would riot if I cut their food down.

i don't disagree with her but i think this depends. not all kids develop at the same time. some kids will eat a lot, some not and some just average. limiting our kids to eat junkfoods that i agree with but when they are eating a lot of fruit and veggies then why stop them?

I watched a lot of these but missed that episode. My two go through phases of eating like no tomorrow or hardly eating anything. Charlotte isn't a veg or fruit lover as such but she knows she has to eat them and tries her hardest, George on the other hand is a fruit lover, and eats more variety of veg than Charlotte. All kids are different and their metabolism are too.

My two are skinny as I was as a child (now I'm most definitely not 😊 ) I try to let them eat when they are hungry but offer fruit or healthy snacks, if they turn them down and ask for crisps or buscuits I know they aren't that hungry really and try to get them to engage their brain on something (easier said than done).

I also enjoy watching this show but dont agree with everything that is said and done. I think as parents we can more or less tell when our children are eating out of bordom or hunger. I know my two boys ask for food (junk) just before bed time because they are that tired they dont even know what it is that they want (umm sleep...)lol.
If that is over feeding a child then Samuel should be alot bigger than what he is (he is tiny)and is an eating machine he starts the minute his little eyes open and wont stop untill he falls asleep although he is very active and has a good balanced diet(unlike his mummy) 😜 .

Hi I wouldn't worry to much about the over feeding thing I give my son a whole one of those pizza as well and he's 5! Calories are only a guide to how much we should feed our children and one day they may consume more than recommended and other days they'll have less, its all about balance.

I'd never give my toddler a whole CT pizza as well as chips etc, I ea that much, but IMO a child shouldnt!!

Jo Frost is fab 😀

I think it very much depends on your child. You know if they will get full up on a quarter of a small pizza or could eat a whole one.
If they are active and burn off the energy, I personally don't think you should deny them. Mine would not be happy if I rationed them and would probably raid the cupboards behind my back!
