Everytime I think I am getting sorted something else happens

Rant time.
During my pregnancy my husband found out he is being made redundant next year and because I work for HBOS I went through worry about my job as well as the usual stress of my job. My parents split up and I had to help move my disabled mother 200 miles away to move in with my brother.
Then the birth was a bit of a chore! 4 hours of pushing followed by a spinal and ventouse.
Then Charlotte was diagnosed with a possible hip problem and needs to have an ultrasound in a few weeks.
On top of that I have had post natal depression and am having trouble getting that sorted.
So now what......?
Well before we got pregnant I got tested to see if I carry the Cystic Fibrosis gene as we know my hubby does. The results came back that I do not carry any of the 90% common CF genes. So the chance of our baby getting CF was 1:900. Pretty good odds.
However, yesterday I got a call from the midwife that Charlotte's heel prick results have come back with a question about CF and she needs to give more blood.
For goodness sake....... I can't seem to catch a break.
OK rant over - because lets face it I have a lovely daughter and a lovely husband and should be greatfull for what I have but it is a bit hard at the moment.

😘 Sounds like you are having a time of it 😘

Joseph had a CF test at 9mths old (he was given the sweat test as apparently it is more aquarate) So I understand your fears there, the best thing about the sweat test is you get the results the same day, can you push for that rather than a blood test?

Hope it goes well and things start to improve soon.x

😘 I hope things start looking up for you all.I would definatly ask for the test that Alex sugessted if its available to you.

Ooooh I had not heard of that. I will ask about it to try and get an answer sooner rather than later. Thanks.

All of our children's CF tests have come back negative, due to not knowing who any of the fathers are they all have to have a second blood test to ensure the heel prick was correct. When you have it done they explain all the different levels of CF (I presume they would focus on the level your husbands gene would cause) so if there is a + diagnosis you know exactly which level you are dealing with, you get results back fast as well, all ours are stated as within 48 hours on their records. A lot of doctors wont use the sweat test on babies due to a high incidence of over heating and dehydration, plus if you get a + they have to go ahead with all blood tests anyway.

Good luck!

You certainly aint had an easy time like. Hope everything turns out for the better shortley....

Oh dear, it really has all happened for you hasn't it hun 🙁 Look on the bright side, you must be turning the corner and, as you say, you've got a lovely little family and that's something really special 😀
