Really starting to do my head in now...

Went to hospital today for what I thought was going to be a repeat check-up with the consultant I saw week before last only to find I was going to see new guy again, registrar this time. Again the c-section issue was raised but this guy seemed to see my point of view a bit more (not sure that actually counts for much though as what impact if any would he actually have on what happens from here on in?!)... my BP was checked (145/90) which went down to 130/90 after 15 mins (other test was ok), was decided it had probably risen due to being sat to fully heated radiator for best part of 20 mins before going in for check-up. Had bloods taken to check for early indication of pre-eclampsia but they won't be back 'til next tues probably.

I have to see (another!) consultant next tues in a thankfully more local hospital for BP check etc, although I'm seeing my MW the next day! 🤔

Part of me can see a c-section coming but I'm hoping that I can get as much rest as possible from now on so that I might be able to ward it off. 🙁

Hey Hun, so i take it you had a previous section and are not that fussed this time. Is there any reason why they wont let you labour your own?

I cant believe your bloods are taking that long to come back, they are usually back the same day i would phone your Gp practice and they would be able to give you results if you want them.

Are they checking on you in day care?

Awwwwwwwwwww hunni, HUGE BLOODY HUGS! I think you need them 😘 😘

I cannot believe how long your bloods are taking adn how many different consultants / registrars you have to see!

Here's hoping as you say yoyu can ward everything off xxxxxxxx

Had both DS and DD by caesarean- DS I had high blood pressure when I went over, which they messed up on a bit as they gave me the wrong dosage (not enough) of some medication that was meant to bring it down, DS my bp had begun to rise slightly 2 days before she was due so was sent in for observation over the weekend and although bp went down and they were going to send me home they monitored me and found her to be in distress so she was born by cs later that day. It's seemed to me like just bad luck on the day as had been fine all the way thru with both pregnancies on DS/DD as well as this one, the 1st consultant we saw in october was all for a normal delivery and had even briefly discussed possible induction- however the consultant we saw at 36 weeks was pro-caesarean (as was the midwife that came in to join his defence) and it has felt since like we have to really fight for a VBA2C. I got a book over the weekend "How to avoid an unnecessary caesarean" which is very interesting- there are stories in there too from mums who have delivered naturally after 2 cs as well as 1 who had a home birth after 2 cs! In one story, the mum said how her initial consultant had told her that both her and the baby would die if she didn't have a caesarean (despite there being nothing wrong with her or the baby)... they do love their emotional blackmail in the NHS! 😠

What gets me is that they are keen to point out any risks involved with a VBAC, but they don't mention that in actual fact you are more likely to develop a problem if you have your baby by caesarean- especially if there's no need for it. They also did a survey on MW/obstetricians to find out why the cs rate is so high here and while the professionals were saying it was 'maternal request', it was found that this was actually only the case in a very small minority 😬

I haven't been to day care as yet but if they did want to see me more regularly I will definately be opposing this and just see my own MW instead, she's the only one at the moment (as far as the professional side of it goes) who is backing me! 😀

I'm hoping that the woman I see later will be the last consultant I have to see before I go into hospital again- I really hope she sees things from my point of view rather than the cr 😠 p I've had to put up with over the last fortnight from her colleagues.

Will be going in with my book too (see last post!) 😀

Let you know what happens later xx

Good luck hun i hope you win the battle, keep us posted.

Went to clinic yesterday and saw Sue, the best consultant I have ever met! 💐

When we got there, my community midwife was there too which was fabulous as we were all able to properly discuss my health through this pregnancy and what plan of action to take. Both Jez and I came from there feeling more positive than ever about this whole affair.

My midwife saw me before I went in to see Sue, checked bp etc. It was slightly up (140/90- my booking bp was 120/80, so not too concerned about that just yet), NAD in blood or urine sample. MW said that Sue tells it as it is, very matter-of-fact. Bit worrying at first as the consultant and registrar we saw recently didn't have a clear plan for us at all, and with the bp going up it really could have gone to a c-section no questions asked! 🤔

Boy, were we in for a shock?! 😎

Sue went through notes in great detail on the previous births, prescribed Labetolol to stabilise my bp that I will be taking daily from now 'til after I give birth (for probably a week or so) and offered me a sweep! I was like "What? Today?" 😲 ... agreed to it but as I haven't had one before I really didn't know what to expect and although I tried to relax the discomfort made me quite tense, Sue said she had managed to briefly sweep and I have been having bits of 'show' since then and quite a few more painless contractions since the sweep which feels encouraging to someone who didn't get that far with either of the other 2! Getting quite excited now! 😀

See MW later today for bp check to see if Labetolol taking effect, she's coming to see me tomorrow for another sweep and again on Tuesday if nothing happens over the weekend. I am also going to have my bp checked at home every other day from now on.

I am booked in for a c-section on 30th April if nothing happens before but will be sent straight to hospital if any signs of pre-eclampsia show up in the meantime. Fingers crossed!! 🙂

Hey hun that sounds more like it, im glad it went so well must have been a relief.

Unfortunately i have had the pleasure of having a sweep and it doesnt matter how much you try to relax it felt like there hand was coming out through your stomach lol 😊 . I hope things start moving along nicely for you and look forward to hearing soem good news sometime soon. 💐

My bp has gone down to 125/70 which is fab! Nothing in urine either, but that could change- just have to see how things go for next 13 days. I'm happy to at least be given the chance rather than the consultant disagreeing outright to a trial of labour.

Having another sweep later today, then another on Wednesday if need be. Hoping I can relax a bit more today, don't know if it's worse knowing what to expect tho!

I do have a slight problem tho, I have done something to my back in between my shoulders- don't know if it's a sprain but it's very bloody painful so maybe it was someone up there's idea of a joke to take my mind off what's happening at the other end! 🙃

Good luck with sweep, not so easy trying to relax when you feel like there hand is coming out your throat lol.

Im sure things will start moving for you.

Sweep didn't go well, I had to chicken out as getting too much to bear. I am being offered another for next wednesday but think I'll decline! MW had managed to get tip of cervix but she said as it is essentially my 1st labour she would have to get quite a way further and hook it with her finger to even attempt the sweep which I was very much against trying by this stage! No guarantee it will work anyway so I'd rather leave it than put myself through that! As she said to me after, she would have to be 'brutal' 😲 😢

On the plus side, bp still low and nothing in urine!
😀
