Full Bladder on a 20 week scan ?
Hey guys a post on behalf of shortie 2
do you need a full bladder for a 20 week scan ?
thanks 😀
Indeed you do. It makes the ultrasound clearer on a scan at any stage. You gonna find out the sex?
No. Baby is high enough (and big enough) to be seen without the aid of the baldder pushing it up
i had to have a full bladder it says on letter if you do or not. i remember cos i had to get my mum to take me to the hospital cos with my bladder being so full i was in agony and couldnt drive myself
I never had to have mine!!??? 😕
I would phone the MW and ask

Markyboy said:Good for you! If we ever have another one I won't find out either. We already have one of each and I still have loads of tiny clothes for each sex so I couldn't use practicality as an excuse to find out next time! lolBlack-Widdow said:

Mother says it is more of a hinder than a help.
Didn't need it for my scan and saw Sophie just fine 😀
I had to have at least a pint of water/fluid (not milk) an hour before.
Our letter said to have a full bladder also. Makes it easier for the sonographer to find and manouver baby if not in the right position, apparently.
Rich said:That's what my letter said. With Charlotte she was sat in a funny position so they couldn't see a part of her spine which was important for them to check. They sent me to have a wee, walk around the hospital, have a hot drink, have a cold drink, eat chocolate and jump up and down etc to get her to move but it didn't work lol! I had to go back a week later instead 😉

No! I've just had my second scan today and I went to the loo while I was waiting to go in, which I'm sure I would have done with my other babies too. They could see everything just fine.
I had to have a full bladder at 12 weeks as the baby was small - in fact I was so desparate that the midwife rushed through it all and appologised as she said it was VERY FULL.
On the 20 week scan I was actually told not to have a full bladder and so I did not and we saw everything clearly and we found out the type too.
