I've got a uninvited lodger
and it's living under my kitchen cupboard!! This is the second one in 3 months. We've lived here 3 years and never had a problem with 'rodents' and now we seem to be ðĪ
I say rodent because I'm not sure it's a mouse, I think the last one was a shrew or something. I've got a trap, but, to be honest I trapped the last one and I felt so unbelievably guilty for killing it ð
I think I might try to get a humane trap and let it go on the back field if we catch it.
There's droppings in the cupboard so it's not very hygienic to just hope he wanders somewhere else. I won't do poison with the dog or the kids about, and tbh if it dies under the cupboard that's even worse ðĪĒ
Oh no!
sometimes when the weather changes they tend come in ðĪĒ
oh god hun what a sticky situation ð can u not call the animal people? whatever they are called ðĪŠ
I know how you feel.
I found a died field mouse a few months back in my house, my first in 5 years in my house. It is sooo cold just now that these creatures are looking for anywhere warm to hide
Aww hun, i know just how you feel. We had field mice in our loft for a while, we kept hearing scratcing and found out they were living in the insulation. I couldn't kill them either, we bought a humane trap and let them go back down by the river. We haven't had any more in the house since. We do have a few field mice living under our shed in the back garden at the moment though, like you i won't use poison though. I am hoping they just don't come near the house again! Xx
YOU need a cat!! or 2! ð
Ahhhh, what a good idea Tammy ð I'm not so sure Martin will go for that though ð
Living in the country side rodents are pretty much always coming in and out of our house, if you make sure you leave absolutely no food out including the dogs they will leave on their own accord when they realise food is too far away to stay in your house. What you can do as well is get some cotton wool and soak it with peppermint oil, they hate the smell so keep away from it, if you can find where they are coming it its useful to put it around their entrance too, obviously wait until they leave.
my parents have in there house them rodent repellant plug in things and i dont think they had a problem with them since but before we used to get field mice and voles. one morning before i went to school i opened my bag by chance in the living room and field mouse jumped out and ran under the fire... imagine the fun that would have caused in my classroom if i hadnt had to open my bag before i got too school..
We live near playing fields so I assume thats where they are coming from. I've a feeling they are getting in through waste pipes or up through the floor because we have a gas meter right underneath the sink.
I like the idea of the peppermint soaked cotton wool to stop them coming in. There were a few more droppings in the cupboard this morning. We have a bin attached to the door so I think that must be what they are going for. I think I will have to invest in a new bin ð
