crying baby and a desperate mummy!

ookay so really need help! my son is 9 months old and a really awful sleeper. But suddenly he started crying everytime u put him in his cot, or if he wakes up he cries in the night. Now i'm back to sleepless nights and i'm exhausted. He has a good routine of 1 nap in the morning and one in the afternoon but they only last 30 mins at best because i have to cuddle him to sleep and if i put him down he wakes right up again and wont settle whatever i do. Now he just kicks out if i try and rock him back to sleep.
I've tried letting him cry but he gets so worked up and sounds like he's choking, and to be honest i would do anything just to have sleep.

I dont know what to do anymore because everyday has turned into a battle of sleep and lots of rocking, leaving me feeling incredibly frustrated because i know only too well the longer the day goes on with him having little or no sleep the grumpier he is going to be.

Awww, I know how you feel hun. My ds is 10mth and he will only cat nap in the day 10mins here and there. He has been unsettled a little at night again recently too but he has been poorly with a cold so am putting it down to that for the moment. all i can say is try and get into a good routine and persevere with what you choose to do. It quite aften takes a while for any of the methods you read about to work so don't get disheartened if it doesn't work after a day or two. The best method i found for us was the pick up put down method. It is very tirying for the parents at first but it does seem to work if you continue with it and don't give in. What you do is when the baby starts crying you go to them and pick them up using very minimal noise so as not to engage them. Then cuddle him until he calms down and put him right back in his cot. If he starts crying again do the same thing, remembering not to talk to him or make too much eye-contact or smily faces etc. Eventually he will realise that crying isn't going to get him the attention he wants so will sleep. Make sure he gets lots of attention when you don't want him to go to sleep though! I hope whatever method you choose works for you hun. Good luck, let us know how you get on Xx

i too had this problem and i carried on with the dont interact with them just put them back down, it took a lil while but my dd (4 now) started to sleep thru altho its a certainty at 4 30 every morning shes awake but altho i end up tired cos im up at 6 she has a drink and goes back off 😘
