A week in the life of....

.... me!

OK, I'll start with where I left you guys a week ago last Friday....

Had a little situation that scared the you know what out of me when I went to pick Aaralyn up from after school care... You may remember she went on a field trip with the recreation department as school was closed that day. They all met up at a different school which is where I had to pick her up from as well. I got there about 5pm, I see some kids playing on the playground with an adult present but no Aaralyn out there so I proceed to go into the school to find her in there... nope she's not in there either 😲 So I ask the lady who was there from the rec department where my daughter is... she doesn't know so she reckons she must be outside on the playground... no, I tell her she's not out there and that I was going to freak out very soon if we don't find my daughter! Panic just set in immediately!!

I go back outside to find Aaralyn standing at the door (outside, the door is locked and you can't get back in with out someone from the inside opening the door) with another little girl. I asked her where she had been and she said "playing over there" pointing to an area behind the school where there were no adults anywhere in site.... after all there were only 2 adults present, one was at the playground, across the school parking lot and the other one was inside, both oblivious to the fact that my daughter and another little girl were playing somewhere by themselves and could have just wandered right off (or worse!!!) unnoticed.

It seems that the guy outside allowed the two girls to walk across the parking lot and into the school by themselves... they couldn't get the door open so they decided to go play behind the school instead. I had words with Aaralyn about it, telling her she should never leave the site of an adult, ever!! I also had words with the directer of the after school care program who was livid about the situation too.... I have a feeling "playground guy" is going to get in some trouble for letting the girls go off by themselves.

To top it off, right across the street from that school lives a registered sex offender.... my friend Ren avoided moving to that neighborhood about a year ago because of that... when she told me I was really glad I didn't know that before or I would have probably freaked out even more when I initially didn't see Aaralyn!

Moving forward through the weekend... nothing too exciting... Aaralyn got another cold and was out of school Monday and Tuesday, again 🙁

Monday I stayed home with her and tuesday morning I stayed with her while Mike worked and then he was going to take her from lunch time for the rest of the day while I worked. Tuesday, late morning I get a call from our regional manager telling me I was being layed off... not fired, not terminated, just layed off until atleast until after the first of the year.

She insisted that it didn't have anything to do with my attendance or lack of... she told me that the company as a whole was doing major layoffs right now because of the economy (this is true, some who've been with the company for over 20 years were layed off). Our office was not generating the sales that they did last year so they decided there was no need for 2 agents there.... I was there by myself half the time anyway with my boss and her issues, but I missed my share of days as well.

So, now I've applied for unemployment (thank goodness it was a lay off because if I'd been fired I would not qualify for unemployment pay) and now I'm looking for another job because unemployment pay is not what I was making so it's not going to cover my bills, I can't afford to stay on unemployment until after the first of the year.

Mike has been so supportive about the situation and is positive for me that something good will come along quickly! I'm trying to be too 🙂

Aaralyn is well again and only missed the 2 days this time! I talked to her teacher and she's still doing well with her school work even with the missed days which was a big concern of mine.

So that's a little catch up..... back to job hunting now....

Sorry to hear of the layoff, im suffering the same too so i get jobseekers allowance for a bit too.

It's good to be back on here, it seems like it was longer than a week and a few days that I didn't have my JPeeps!!

sounds like a really rough week i hope things pick up soon on the work front.

i just had to go onto incapacity benefits cos i been off work for more than 6 months sick the company say they cant pay me anymore and after waiting 6weeks for it to come through its come through so im now getting less money than what i was when i was employed but the council who help pay my rent are saying i getting more money and are dropping the money they give me in rent and council tax benefits so im having to go to my financial case worker with the C.a.b to try and appeal their decision as its gone from me having to pay £55 a month in rent to paying £70-80 a month in rent which is money i dont have.

Sounds like you have had an awful week hun, if it doesn't rain it pours eh! I'm glad you gave the after school care people a piece of your mind. Thank god Aaralyn was ok hun. It's good she is doing so well in school though, and that she wasn't out for so long with her cold this time! 😀
It must be really worrying for you being laid off too. I'm sure something will come along soon though hun, who in their right mind wouldn't give you a job! It is sooo good to have you back Xx

Sorry to hear that Aaralyn was poorly again. It's Georgia-maes half term and i have a week off school but she's been ill for nearly 3 days now... 😢

I really hope you find something workwise pretty soon hun! The economy and job lay offs is such a huge factor at the moment and right in the face of Christmas too! 💐 😘

Sorry to hear you've been layed off, there has been a lot of redundancies where I work, the construction game is suffering big time over here. 🙁 Hope something comes up hun, maybe you can get a temporary Christmas job xx
