Rubbish Doctor and soooo tired

I have a couple of moans today. 🙁

First is that I went to the doctor last night for my first appointment and I felt like cattle. She seemed totally indifferent to me being pregnant. Told me lots of pregnant people had been in today and sounded mightly annoyed with it all.

When I told her about my already low blood pressure, feinting when stressed and general anxiety (this is all normal for me - nothing to do with being preggers) she reacted not one jot. She did not even take my blood pressure to make sure I am OK. 🙁 Just told me that I now have to see the midwife and that they deal with it all. So now I have to wait till next week to see them - hope I don't pass out before then! Apparently drinking enough will help.....

This is my first pregnancy and I was hoping for a bit more..... something.

Second thing - in South Glouchestershire - which is where my part of Bristol is - they apparently don't do 12 week scans! WHAT?!?!? I have to wait for 20 weeks. Does anyone else think this is a bit too late to find out if things are OK. Like I am not anxious enough? 🤔

Third thing - I am soooooo tired and nauseous. I know you can't help me with that but I just wanted to moan to some people who really understand. I am trying to give a damm about work but to be honest I don't care and I would rather be in bed. 😀

your doctor should have taken your bp

as for sickness you need to find something that works for you, ginger nuts are good have one as soon as you wake up and another when you start to feel iffy again

lucozade also works wonders, take a few glugs when you first wake up to boost your blood sugar quickly and again if you feel iffy - dont drink more than a small bottle a day though because its 300 cals a bottle

as for tiredness you need to cap nap - one of the joys of pregnancy, enjoy it

My mum is a midwife for North Lincolnshire, she says, most places only carry out a scan to determine how far along you are and a 20 week scan as the likelyhood of finding potential problems before then are quite slim and due to the nature of ultrasounds doctors do not want the fetus to be exposed to them unless it is necessary. With blood pressure, normally if a woman already has low or high blood pressure that remains fairly stable, it is not monitored until later in pregnancy when blood pressure tends to change in the majority of women, as it makes it easier to stabilise blood pressure later in the pregnancy, but all women should have their blood pressure checked at their appointment, whether or not they have had previous problems.
Dextrose tablets and ginger will be your friend for the next few weeks, trust me, the travel sickness bands for your wrists work for alot of people during pregnancy too.

I really feel for you hun. I remember what it was like. I went to my doctor all excited, wanting her to confirm my pregnancy when i was having my dd (1st pregnancy) as that what you are told to do in all the books. Her response was, 'what do you want me to do about it? Have you made an appointment with the midwife?' When i said no, i was waiting for confirmation, and to be told what the next step was she just sighed! I was soooo deflated whn i left there. I hope your midwife is better hun, mine was great! 😀 Seems you already have some good advice on the tiredness and sickness hun, trynot to worry it is all normal. As for the scan thing. It sucks that you won't get an NHS scan at 12 weeks 🙁 You can book a private scan though? I think you can get a dating scan for around £40? Don't hold me to that though! Hope you will start to feel better soon hun! 😘 Xx

Thanks everyone.

I phoned the midwife clinic and they told me that the policy in South Glouchestershire has just changed and I will get a dating scan. 😀

I am getting used to being pooped now too. Just trying to get used to having a total lack of concentration. Fortunatly I have nice boses who are alright with me being a bit rubbish at the moment.
