Update on the situation
Hello everyone.
Sorry I haven't been around much, but when DH is home I hardly get a chance to get on the internet as he always wants to do something around the house.
Anyway DH has a new job, manager of a well known card shop. Of course he won't get paid properly until the end of November. So I shall have to keep robbing Peter to pay Paul and striving to keep the wolves from the door for as few more weeks at least.
With exception of 3 mobile all the companies we owe money to have been very helpful and understanding. 3 however have turned our debit over to e debit collection service even though we're only 8 days late paying them and we explained the situation to them over the phone when Dh was made redundant. They told us not to worry and we could pay them at the end of the month. Now we have the debit collectors phoning all hours of the day 😬
Glad to hear about the new job hun - good news 😀
If you have spoken to the debt collectors to explain your position, they should not phone you again about it that day or within a couple of days. If they continue to phone after you have explained to them, it is considered harassment and is illegal. You can then do a written complaint to them (note times of calls). However, if they are just continually phoning you but you do not answer, they legally can do this.
Have you considered having a chat to one of the free debt management companies around? There is information on National DebtLine which is provided by the government and gives you a lot of information on what creditors can and can't do and also Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS) which is a free service and will provide you with advice or set up a debt management plan for you.
I hope it all gets sorted for you quickly and you can get back to enjoying life 😘
Oh hun, sounds like this has been a very stressful time for you. So glad things look like they are on the up. I have a pay as you go modem with 3. It wasn't working for 3days the other day. When i rang them their customer service was almost non-existant! It took me the whole day yesterday to finally get the problem sorted. It seems i am obviously not the only person having problems with them then. How silly of them to turn the debt to collectors after 8 days, especially after the explanation you gave them. I hope you get this sorted hun! So glad everyone else has been helpful for you though. Keep looking at the bright side of things. You have told everyone your situation and not buried your head in the sand which is always the tempting thing to do, and your dh has now got a new job to go to. As they say a change is a good as a rest and your dh may find the new challenge is just what was needed! 😘 Xx
Funny thing is I already have a debt management plan with the CCCS and I was unable to pay them as well this month. I also found them very unhelpful and got a better response contacting my creditors directly to explain the problem. I am now having to pay them direct until I can set up a direct debit to pay the CCCS
We have explained the situation to the debt collectors and have told them we should be able to pay them at the end of this month. But they keep phoning and asking if we can borrow the money off family or just pay £20 for now. Er no, get in line with everyone else we owe!
im sorry, i have a contract with 3 and i may be losing my job at the end of this year, so i hope that they will be understanding enough to help me when i need it.
im sorry that you are having to go through this. If theres any advice i can give you please dont hesitate to ask, i work in customer services and deal with bad debt all the time.
just let me know if theres any advice i can help with
