Hyperactivity + red dye

Has anyone ever heard or experienced red food coloring causes hyperactivity in children? Someone told me that and I looked it up... there is a lot about it, some saying it's true some saying it can't be proved. What do you think?

put it this way, i was banned from smarties and cherryade and any other sweets you can think of at the age of 4 because i ate smarties before school one day and was so mashed the teachers phoned social services on my parents telling them I WAS DRUNK!!!! drunk for crying out loud!!
i think its red and blue because now because blue is not a natural colour they have banned it and red has a certain E number in it
