How to keep the kids entertained during wet weekends?

Does anyone else struggle to know what to do with their kids at weekends?
I have two boys and a girl, all under the age of 12 and I really worry about them getting bored now that autumn is approaching and they won't be able to go outside so much.

I found some great things for them to do on activity village website and a few fun things to do on storyboxbooks. com. The macaroni picture frame is on the cards for this weekend i think!

Does anyone else have any good ideas for keeping the little'uns entertained during wet weekends?

If you don't have cats you can get them into a jigsaw puzzle. There are very cool ones out there. 3D ones let you build things like Big Ben and the London Bridge. Or there are border shaped ones. Like a lion shaped puzzle with a scene of a savanna plain.

You can also play board games or the like.

Try this fun simple cookie dough molding recipe. Just add flour, sugar and butter and mix. Then seperate the dough into 3rds and add red, blue and yellow. This dough should be easy as playdough to mold. Set the oven for 350 F.
Show the kids how you can create new colors by mixing the different colored dough together. Have them make whatever they want. It's Playdough that you can eat afterwards. I believe it only takes about 5-10 min to bake. Just check on the cookies to be safe.

Invite their friends over on the weekends for an old fashioned slumber party complete witha child friendly spooky movie.

Go out for a walk and collect as many different leaves as you can find and make a collage out of them in ascrap book.

Or you can get them to clean their rooms...... 😉

I like the leaf collecting idea, will have to do that soon with Aaralyn as the leaves are already starting to change here now!!

We make little cakes. They can be mixed and cooked in 10 minutes! then the kids can decorate them if they want with icing, chocolate, etc

Last weekend my kids and I made salt dough jewellery: 600g Plain flour, 300g salt, 2 tbsp lemon juice 2tbsp vegetable oil and 300ml water. They absoultely loved it. I got the idea from "Custard and Crayons with Polly and Jago" which is a fantastic book with loads of activities and fun things to do throughout the year!

we dont get time to get bored!!! 😇

We have a supply of materials to use with the "Art Attack" book. There are lots of different things to make and do. We have some glue and various coloured paints too so there is plenty of creativity.

Baking is another great fun thing - mostly eating the hot cup cakes straight from the oven 😀

I know christmas is 3months away but you could start making presents. With my friends sone we got some plaster of paris and coated some flower pots. When dry we have painted and next time we will plant soem hyacinths. The other is get them making cards

I suggest you think of some creative things for them to do. You can bake, decorate things like picture frames or just rearrange their rooms. This is also a good time to get them reading novels! Also, you can search up safe websites for the kids. 😀

The best thing is to make the engage in doing activities like crafts, paintings, playing puzzle games or playing with dough, building blocks and coloring pages. For paintings tempera painting, finger painting, biocolor paint, spin painting.

My kid would love doing finger paintings, crafts and coloring pages. He love to do coloring the images with crayons. I have downloaded harry potter coloring page for my LO as his best one. http://www.momjunction.com/articles/adventurous-harry-potter-coloring-pages-toddler-will-love_0085883/

Picking up the crayons and marking on the paper is one of the best art activity for the kids. To do this just required materials Here is the few activities to keep your kids busy http://www.goodhousekeeping.com/home/craft-ideas/how-to/g1389/diy-kids-activities/

I'm in the same boat. I live in the Pacific Northwest and it can get very wet here most of the year. We have lots of indoor cafes with play areas as well as libraries that offer playtime for the little ones. The science center, zoo and children's museum are all great options for younger children. I'm not sure about your older children though. I know many of the community centers offer all sorts of programs that are indoor. They do arts and craft classes and sports. Do you have an indoor pool around? Many of those offer family swim times that are open to the public for a small fee.

Usually on wet days, we have a movie day or game day. Depending on the storm (thunder/lightning) we may go run around in the rain. My daughter is my world, so these are the little things that matter. Always making memories 🙂

I keep my little one occupied when it readings by playing board games, coloring, reading, playing in the rain (as long as there isn't any thunder or lightning), we watch movies too. I use it as extra time to spend with my little one since she would rather past outside most days. Look on pinterest as well. There are hundreds and hundreds of different ideas for rainy days. 🙂

Rainy days don't have to be a drag. Employing some craft time to the mix will give your children some variety. The best craft idea that I have found would be painting. Yes, this is quite messy but it keeps my toddler busy for at least an hour. I know the idea of having paint in places it should not be may scare some of you parents out there, but trust me all you have to do is designate an area for painting. Make sure to cover all exposed areas with plastic and newspaper, set the paints in shallow bowls with the brushes already inside, and let your toddler (him/her) get into artist mode. Very easy to clean, just gather all the paper and plastic and toss it.

On rainy days we like to have a movie day with popcorn and drinks. We all get into our pajamas and snuggle up and watch a movie. Sometimes we'll have a family game time and we'll play a board game as a family. I love baking with the kids too so if I have all the fixings I'll have the kids help me bake some cookies or brownies. There are so many things you can do inside that do not involve technolgy or having your kids tune out. I try to make the most of being stuck inside. Sometimes we read books or work on math facts. I know it sounds too much like school, but we make it fun and the kids don't mind at all.

Oh wow there are many things that you can try to do with your kids. Anything from cooking with them (making a simple banana cake for example) through to making origami perhaps. Try a science experiment as well (depending on the kids age). Some of these experiments might get messy though :))) Or you can try a little indoors adventure, if you have some sticky tape, you can make like an adventure trial indoor.
