"Mommy, I have 2 problems with the school bus"....
.... is what Aaralyn told me last night when I asked her if she wanted to walk to school today with me or take the bus. Her answer was to walk with me because of the "problems" she has with the school bus.... so, I ask her what the problems are and she tells me "number one is they don't have seat belts"... which bothers me greatly too but that's just the way it is with school busses for whatever reason, they are not nor have ever been equipped with seat belts.... and then she went on to tell me that "the number 2 problem is that no body sings on the school bus!".... bless her, she must have had this image in her head that on a school bus on the way to school every body sings songs together LOL... she is greatly bothered that none of the kids wanted to sing with her 😍
bless her 😍
Over her all school buses MUST have seatbelts and they must be worn (great thing I think- although I am sure the 14year olds + would think it isnt cool)
I don't understand why the busses don't have them here in the states. By law, you must wear a seat belt in most states, so why not the school busses??? 🤔
I think I'll just keep walking her to school until it starts to get cold and nasty out then she can ride the bus more....
Me and my boyfriend had asked that question to a bus driver. Apperently it would be too expensive. I think every parent should make a complaint about it. The only way things will change is if there are concerns.
I understand Aaralyns scares very well. I had to take a school bus in grade 1 and was teased everyday. All because on my first day i had to sit by a window with bird poop on it. I was tormented by kids much older than me. But as I got older and moved to a another city I felt more comfortable with school buses. I just don't feel comfortable with the idea that they stop right on front of your house and all your enemies know where you live.
the seatbelt thing is scary
but the singing thng is sooooooooooooooooooooooo cute 😍
Can you get other parents together to campaign for seatbelts to be put on the buses? That would worry me too.
Sounds like she could introduce the singing thing - isn't that just so darling? 😀
Aww bless her!

Krista it's a great idea to get the parents to rally together and try to get a seat belt law passed for school busses but it has been done for years with no result 😛 even with kids getting seriously injured in accidents.... it's the whole country too, not just my area and I think it's ridiculous, especially because it's a cost thing, cut the money from somewhere else to keep our children safe is what I say!!
The no singing thing cracked me up when she said that and I couldnt let her see that I was amused by it because she was very serious about it being a problem for her 😉 😍
She is now known as the "hugger" in her after school program, when I pick her up she has to give and get hugs from all the other kids there 😍 I'm glad that's still allowed among the younger grade children 🙂
all our buses are fitted with belts its great to have peace of mind
When you say about the younger grade kids 'still' being allowed to hug...does that mean older grades can't???
I must admit, having belts on buses make me feel easier, when we went on Charlotte's school trip in nursery, it made me feel safer and happier for Charlotte's safety. It did make me annoyed though at the few parents who allowed their children to not wear them.

I guess to keep any thing questionable from happening and also to keep the older grade kids from being more physical than appropriate with each other.... I have mixed views on the whole thing 🤔
