Here comes Hannah!!

Well it's looking like we are gonna get some serious wind and rains tonight and tomorrow!! I came into the academy this morning and noticed there were lots of sandbags so I asked one of the midshipman if they were for here or somewhere else and he said that they are expected 4 foot swells from the water (it's a river!) around the academy so 1000's of the mids will be putting the sand bags up today to keep the academy from flooding 😲

Mike is really worried about the boats and the wind. We may have to move them out to a mooring off the docks for the storm so they don't get all beat up 😲

I'm supposed to be going to this tradeshow and I'm calling the big boss to let her know if it's really ugly then I will not be there... they should just cancel it anyway, I doubt alot of people are going to be venturing out in the wind and rain tomorrow!

Should all be cleared outta here by Sunday for the big move! and then we may have Hurricane Ike here next weekend 😕

Thanks guys, we're not gonna get hit as hard with this as the South did/is but it sounds like it's coming right up the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay which means we'll get it worse around here on the water than other places.

Hopefully the boats will be ok... he has the option of putting them on a mooring anchor out in the water as opposed to in the slips at the marinas (he's got 2 boats at 2 different marinas) So it will be hard work if he has to do that but it will keep the boats safer.

I guess we are experiencing "the calm before the storm" right now because it is a beautiful sunny warm day with just a mild breeze blowing and not a storm cloud in sight!

It's amazing how calm everyone sounds about the weather in America. Over here, even if we get a strong breeze it makes the news! lol. Make sure you stay safe tammy! I hope it isn't too bad. Xx

Oh and regards to boats. My mike is obsessed with them. We have 3 atm! Maybe it is something about the name mike? lol Xx

You are so right (atleast around here) there are many hurricane parties going on in my neighborhood right now LOL... you'd think it was Independence Day around here with all the fireworks going off!!

Been watching the weather channel tonight, they are saying in the next 24 hours we could get up to 8 inches of rain around here and sustained winds of up to 30-40 miles per hour!!.... I have a feeling our cable and power will be out tomorrow so if ya'll don't see me on, that's why!

It's almost 10am here and the wind and the rain have just really picked up... I just heard some thunder too 😲 I sure hope we don't lose power, I guess it could be a good games, arts and crafts and puzzle day if we do! Any other suggestions for a rainy day with possibly no power (hhmm hotel room might be good)

Mike's over at the Pura La Vida, he said every one is getting their boats geared up and ready, he said the water is really rocking over there.

Not to worried about water coming into the house because it's up a little from ground level but it is a very likely chance that the roads here could get totally flooded as the creek can rise really quick if we get the amount of rain they are expecting...

Oh my, scary stuff! I love a good storm, but can be scary too. We don't really get the same extreme weather you can get over there here. Here's hoping you keep your power. I suppose it's puzzles, drawing, painting all the way if you do? I love making greetings cards. I make them for up and coming events if you have any birthdays/anniversaries etc coming up, maybe worth a go? I made a fathers day one with lots of the kids handprints. Lolly loved making that! Sorry don't have many ideas? Hope it isn't as bad as expected hun! Xx

I know a part of route 1 is closed and I've seen back yards that are flooded. The rain is pouring down where I am. Thankfully, I am on a hill and don't expect to have much problems. So far we have not lost power and the wind isn't too strong right now.

I hope you don't loose power and that your boats stay safe.

It's so weird. A few years ago. Actually, last decade someone predicted that there were going to be an increase in severe weather by....well, now. In fact there are 2 more hurricanes comming. Hurricane Ike and Hurricane Josephine. Luckily these hurricanes are weak enough only to be deemed as tropical storms. I think they're the same, right?

It's actually still very mellow here in comparison to what we were expecting... maybe the worst is yet to come?? 🤔

I've been hearing a lot about hurricane (now tropical storm?) Ike... seems some places are gonna get hit pretty hard with that too... It's really scary what "Mother Nature" can do sometimes (or is it us causing this?)

Good question. I too wonder if any of this is caused by us.

Well, the storm has passed now and the rain has stopped. There's still some wind but not much and I don't see too much, mostly leaves, lying around on the ground.

Is the storm past you too?

yep, pretty much it seems.... it was sunny a little while ago and now it's all cloudy again and still pretty windy but no more rain right now...

All the hype, didn't add up to much around here.. glad no one had to suffer power outages though, lots of people in the south are and will still 🙁
