my car has its mot tomorrow and im really hoping it will pass but im not sure positive thoughts please if it dont pass then im going to have to declare my car as sorn as my road tax is due by sunday and thne ill be carless and where i live its really hard to go anywhere without a car

good luck, ours went through no problems, but the clutch is slipping, could mean a new one, time for a new car i think. for what it would ost for a new clutch it would cost us to get rid of the car its old and not worth much, but i love my mondeo 😢

Lucy i had to buy a new clutch a couple of years ago the clutch itself cost about £70 (varies from different makes/models etc) but then the garage wanted to charge a couple of hundred to fit it as its such a long job they have to take most of the engine out luckily my ex fiance had an uncle who was a mechanic so we took the car to him and he fitted it so not only did i get my clutch fitted for free i also got a few days break in north wales in the mountains about a month after i had izzabella which was nice 🙂
your best bet would be to go to your local garage that you trust say your clutch is starting to slip and they will tell you if they need to replace it or they may just need to tighten it get some estimates or if you know someone who is a mechanical wise in anyway ask them

the horn not working (it was last time i checked)
the side indicator not working (i got that fixed 2 days ago)
one of the front headlights is too low 🤔
the wheels are too big.. (its passed 4 mots with them wheels on no problem.. and at least one of them being at that garage..)

i cant afford to fix it can afford the lights and horn etc its the wheels its gunna cost me like £300 to buy a new set there aint even any suitable on ebay and with it having no mot and no tax from sunday i wont even get much for selling it and wont be able to buy a new car im screwed either way..

i went to get the car and i asked him to explain it all to me and it was the other indicator that didnt work so i got a new indicator unit for £6.47 lol he said the bulb on the front has slipped so it needs putting back in properly so dad can do that and the horn just needs reconnecting the wires mite not be in properly and the wheels he told me to get some thin spacers and that should solve the problem they are £10 a pair i enquired at a local car shop.

thanks hun me to he told me they only have to check the few things it failed on when it goes back and not the whole lot again and if i get it done within 14 working days i get a free retes
the only bad things is im going to have to declare my car as SORN tomorrow night as its tax runs out on the 31st so i cant drive it when that goes and with the new system they implimented that if you dont have your tax by the day after it expires you get an automatic fine i cant leave it a couple of days like you used to be able to.
Hun you get a month to renew, so although it runs out today, your fine is only sent out if you haven't renewed or declared as sorn within a month...the time before last I didn't get the new tax until about 4 days into the next month. (Although i would check out the website to be sure as I was only told this but I never received any fine)
My car tax is going to be about £260 at least for 12 months when its due for renewal 😢 We have to pay the same as 4x4's because its apparently high on c02 emmisions...its a 2ltr petrol estate. If we can ever afford a new car its going to be a diesel lol!!
i phoned the dvla yesterday as on the car tax form they send it said i had 14days and on the website i had to declare it sorn and she told me i have until the 14th sept if it not back on the road by then i have to declare it sorn but i cant drive it on the road at all unless its to an mot test not even to a garage to get it fixed unless it going to have a mot test afterwards
Ah well I remember that lol, I was told by someone at work it was a month.

i think you used to get longer but i think alot of people took advantage of it so they clamping down on it now
