Advise needed for my pet loving friends here....

Sorry for those of you who know privately from me about this already but I'd like to ask the forum as a whole advise about this...

I am moving in 2 weeks into an apartment and can only have 2 pets there... well, I have 3, 2 cats and 2 dogs (the other 2 cats and dogs will be at Mike's still because they were his to start with) so my plan is to bring my dog and Aaralyn's kitty Destiny to start with (I think she should definately have her kitty to help her get re-adjusted). I plan on bringing my other cat Willow over after we are settled in and sure that there will be no maintenance problems where somone may have to come into the apartment to fix anything initially.

They have become indoor/outdoor cats living at Mike's so they can be outside wandering around during the day and they always come in at night. My dog is 12 years old and she has tumors that are getting bigger again, she already had a surgery a few months ago to remove some but more have come on. I don't think I will be putting her through surgery again at her age so as sad as I am to say, she may not be around for a long time anyway ( 🙁 but I hope she is!)

So, those of you who have pets, because you are the ones who will understand my predicament most, what would you do?? I've gone through hell and high water to keep them with me over the years to allow them to live their life start to finish as part of my family and I certainly won't give up on them now (in a round about way, they are responsible for me having my beautiful daughter, sounds strange but it's true!)

So, opinions and advice wanted and welcome... those of you who don't have pets feel free to respond as well!

I think your plan of moving Aaralyns kitty and your doggie (I want to say Corey but you have so many animpals I forget sometimes which one is which 😊 )first is a good idea and then move in Willow, Im sure having the 3 animals wont be a problem. Will the cats still be able to get outside ok at your new place? or are you going to have to make them indoor? I wouldnt be without my pets and neither would my mum, as you say they are your family. 😀

im sorry i cant offer advice but i hope that you get some valuable advice from other members i wish your pets well in their move 😍

Honestly? I would probably be doing what you're doing now.

If anyone notices the extra cat can you not pretend it's a neighbours that keeps coming around to eat your cat's food? 😀

Hmmmm, that won't work because I just called the rental office to ask them if cats can be outside in that community and she said they should be kept inside and if they see one out and know who the owner is they will send a letter requesting they be kept indoors..... so, I guess I'll just have to keep them out of the windows or only allow one in a window sill at a time LOL.

I kinda like the idea of them being indoor cats again, however they may not like it, I feel it's safer for them and then I don't have to worry when they've gone wondering for hours.

I think it should work out fine too and if worse comes to worse then Willow will have to live at Mike's for a while longer and I will just have to visit her alot (and she can come stay for weekends and stuff).... My apartment is pretty far and out of site from the rental office so I just have to make sure one of the cats goes to Mike's if I have any routine maintenance that someone would have to come into the apartment for....

Aww, i agree with all the others hun. I'm sure you will manage to keep a kitty cat hidden. I know it's a tad 😏 but who wouldn't do that? You can't just let them go, they are important members of the family! I miss not having so many pets anymore. We just have the one now. His called Dougal and is a collie/greyhound lurcher. Pets make a family complete in my world! lol Xx

i think it will be ok hun. were only allowed the 4 cats that we moved in with and we now have 5 😊 noone seems to be bothered and i dont think anyone will take any notice hun. as for keeping them in; if you think theyll be ok then i see no problem. i couldnt with mine as 4 out of the 5 need to be able to go in and out as they want otherwise theyd go bonkers lol.

I think Willow will be just fine about being an inside kitty but I don't know about Destiny 😭 she's gotten quite used to her little hunts and prowls outside so we'll see. I'm sure it would be ok (if they'd stick around me) for me to have them one at a time sometime out on my patio (yes, I have my own little patio!! 😀 ) with me. Not so worried about it when winter comes they both like to be inside warm and cozy 😀

See how you get on and maybe if anyone asks or mentions that they've seen another cat, just say you promised to cat sit before you moved or something and you couldn't let them down, and that they are out of town for a long time? 😉

That's a good idea too! I feel bad for trying to cheat my lease but it's all with good intent and what's 1 more cat anyway, like someone told me, kinda just like having one more dog right!

I can tell you right now that lying about the pets not being yours is a bad idea. I have a friend living in a Manitoba housing townhouse and she just brought in a bull mastiff. She's not allowed to have pets and already has a cat. Her managment gives her 24 hrs notice to come in for inspections. Whenever this happened she would ask me to comeover and take her dog for a walk. It was inconvenient the first time because she wanted me and Candra to sleepover in case they came early in the morning. So, you don't want to do this to your friends.
Just ask them if you can keep your sick dog untill he passes away. If your dog is sick then he won't be too active right? And you can always put screens on your windows to keep the cats inside.
Managment, caretakers and landlords always come up with some excuse to visit you. You don't have to let them inside without propper notice, but what happens when they see an unfamiliar pet? They will tell you to get rid of it within a certain time and then come back to investigate. This happened to me. It sucks, I know

I'm allowed to have 2 pets, my dog is ok to be there and for a bit after we initially move in one of my cats will be staying at my boyfriend's house which is where we all currently live.... I'm hoping it will all work out this way, if not, one of my cats may stay with my boyfriend for a little longer... we'll see!
