Got a letter from the school
Kids!
just had a letter from the school!
and it goes like this......
Dear Mr and Mrs ********,
SUBJECT ISOLATION: Thomas ******** Year 9****
It has been reported to me that Thomas has been placed in a Subject Isolation 1 time(s) between Monday 16th June to Friday 20th June 2008 for the reason(s) stated below:
. English: Failed to follow instructions
Thomas' misbehaviour is disrupting the teaching and learning of students of C******** High School, and this is unacceptable.
If Thomas receives a total of 5 Subject Isolations before the end of half term, he will spend a day in our Behaviour for Learning Centre.
I would be grateful if you would discuss this matter with Thomas in order to ensure that this level if behaviour does not continue.
If you wish to discuss this matter further please do not hesitate to contact the school.
Yours sincerely
Mrs K ****
Head of House
cc Firm Tutor, File
OK my question is this?
He was stuck with his work, so he asked for help. He had a supply teacher and he couldnt get his attention, so being the impatient person he is, he called out several times. (I am in no way excusing his behavious btw).
He said he tried to make several attempts, in the end called loudly, OY!
So the teacher advised him take a detention or go in another classroom to calm down, so he left the classroom!
I get this letter! what am i sposed to think??
I cant get hold of the teacher because i do not know who he was!!!!
Head of English is not available and I am annoyed!
why are they sending a letter out after just one isolation? thats daft. i have to say though i would have done the same tom did and had to chuckle at him shouting OI!
is this just an isolated incident or (from what the letter says) is it happening often?
have you called the headteacher? i would. other than talking to the headteacher and tom i dont know what to suggest. you need to get to the bottom of it before you can do anything about it

i want to talk to the head of English, of course i cant because i can never get hold of them!!!
The head wouldnt want to know i know his hes next to useless!
And my son is not known for his tact and diplomacy!
Hmmmm.... that's a tough one.... I know (because I remember doing it) kids tend to act up a little more in class when it's not their regular teacher, but if he was really asking for help and was being disregarded then he had a right to say OY, I think.
I would wait till you get ahold of the right person to talk to and see if you can get a meeting set up about it maybe??
Hope it gets sorted quickly hun!
sounds like my jami's school. you call and all you get is a blooming answering service and you have to give the extension number which noone knows 🤪
i can only suggest you keep trying to get hold of the head of english and find out whats going on. and tom sounds like just any other teen lol
yeah hes no worse than any of the kids i know, but hes not the sort to get into trouble, hes impetious and hes got some issues with attention and hes maybe very borderline ADD.
Weve been asked to take him to get him assessed the chances are that hes not bad enough to be medicated which is not a route i wish to take anyway.
Hes just a boy with no patience!
The school are next to useless and i give up sometimes.
They sent this letter home, why was i not sent this sooner?
Why now, why at all? I would have been none the wiser, and not saying i dont care, i do with a pasion and i want the best for him, but is it petty is it serious why wont someone talk to me?

i have an appt with the form teacher on thursday lets hope we can get to the bottom of it!
Blimey isolation for shouting OI in class?
I'm not sure I really agree with this isolation stuff, my boss had some problems with his daughters school over something (I'm not sure what totally), but she's never in detention or gets bad comments about her behaviour usually.
I do agree if they child is really bad but for one off stuff I don't. I remember detentions but isolation was for the really really disruptive kids. I think most kids ended up with behaviour cards if they misbehaved over a certain amount of times that they had to have graded after each lesson.
i dunno what to think! anyways well see what his form teacher has to say on thrsday
