Had a Letter this Morning
the council have refused my medical assement they have said because my mum comes round on her days off they wont up my banding so im still stuck in here until bubba is born 😠😠😠they think its going to be easy carrying an 18month old and a newborn up and down 3flights of stairs.
that a bit stupid isnt it, surely because your mum comes round it shows you need the extra help.
Kepp at them hun, hope you get something else
omg thats flaming ridiculous. a girl i chat too on another forum has a 4yr old and a 10 month old and they live in a one bedroom flat. 4 flights of stairs and the council say that the house is big enough. wtf? makes me so cross
My sil has a one bedroomed flat with two kids under 2. She can't get anywhere else, silly isn't it.
this is the reason why i never got involved with the council! we are with a housing association - they have so much more respect for their tenants and if you have a problem they are always round asap to help you out! when i first fell pregnant with ethan - we lived in a 2nd floor 1bed flat, the council werent interested and said that as a baby would share our room for at least a year there was no urgency to move us! so the housing association helped us out within a week! the house we are on now, we had a few damp issues when we first moved in and instead of waiting for the housing association to sort it, we got onto the council as we were told they would temporarily rehouse us while the work is carried out on our home - to which some snotty moo on the phone told me 'you have a roof over your head what more do you want' this angered me to think that if i was some sort of illegal immegrant - who payed nothing towards the government and lived for free - id sure have a place to live then! and one thats payed for by them! but no - as im a british uk resident,i feel they treat us like shite!!
ur not classed as over crowded until one child is over 6/7, and i think of opposite sex. aparently they can sleep in the same room until then.
i know here our local council class a child under 8 as 1/2 a person - so basically,in a 2bed house/flat its made for up to 4people - but that could be 2 adults and 4 children under 8!! shockin aint it!
the housing association im with says that a 2 children can share a bedroom up to the age of 8,regardless of the sex, once the oldest child reaches 8 (even if its 2 boys or 2 girls or one of each) they rehouse you (if they havent already)
we have 5 kids 2 of them are teenagers and were sharing 3 to a room and 2 to a room, the council werent interested in rehousing us into a 4 bed house so we had to go and find a private rental house after 5 years of being on the list with no offer of a 4 bed! They had a glut of 4 beds a few years ago and let smaller families move into them, but when the need arose for bigger familes there were none available! I know of one that is inhabited by an elderly man on his own!!!!! But i am quite happy now as the house we have is far nicer than anything the council would have put us in!!!!

oh yea i know how bad councils can be my mum has 6kids 2 girls 4boys and we were in a 3bed house me and my sis sharing and the 4boys it wasnt fun no privacy at 18yrs old not good lol
now my sis has her own room as im not there and 3boys share as the older bro moved out but came back he now sleeps on the sofa. council has never said they would move my mum!! ðŸ˜
here kids are classed as half a person until they are 1.
why cant councils have the same rules all over- up here a child can share the shame room as the parents until they are 2! the can share rooms (boys and girls) until the eldest is 8(if it is a girl) or 9 (if it is the boy). shame sexes can share unless there is a 8 or 9 year age gap (i.e boy of 15 shouldnt be sharing with brother of 6 or 7) but it is all in theory it never happens like that.
Pink-witch said:blooming henry 😲 . i know what you mean bout the blooming council. we were told we werent a priority case. there was my eldest in a tiny box room. we had the younger 2 in our bedroom and me and james were sleeping on the lounge floor. we even had damp but werent a priority case. we ended up renting privately. makes me sick sometimes

Me and DH was in a council one bed flat middle floor, neighbours were atrosious(both up and down), Council never did a thing. Even though we worked full time and paid all bills and they just sat on their backsides drinking and smoking drugs. when we found out we were pregnant with chloe we weren't waiting around for years for them to place us in a house, it was already making us both ill they were that bad! So we moved into private rent, which we really can't afford but it was the only way of staying sain. I got us back on the council list and after 6 months or more we are only at 145!!!Grr Dam Council, Hate them!! ðŸ˜
I know what u mean ...having a baby and toddler and living on the 3rd floor is really bad.....it may be worth getting your local MP involved to try and help!
