About Sammie being banned....

I want to apologize for those who haven't been told. Alex and I have been emailing people between both of us working so haven't gotten to everyone yet.

Please, anyone and everyone who has questions, Just PM me, I will answer them as best and honestly as I can... I understand everyone's worry and anger, believe me, I have both!!

Hello again... please see Rich's post that explains the short of it...

I've just gotten to work, still by myself and I have to book 40 mid shipman out to Chicago tonight... sadly one of the students in their company was killed in a motorcycle accident this week and is from Chicago, so the whole company is getting tickets to go to his funeral 🙁

As soon as I get a minute (probably my lunch time, 6ish your time) I can start answering some emails.

I also want to say, that I emailed those that I knew for sure had contact with her outside of JP (msn) and then intended to email as many others as I could. There was no reason other than that for some getting PM's sooner than others.

This is like a "family" here to me, you ALL know I am addicted to this site 😉 and love the members whom I've gotten to know here. I totally understand every one's fear, anger and frustation at not being told sooner.. there were reasons as Rich stated...

and another mid shipman (woman) came into book a ticket to Chicago, so will check back in a bit with you guys

Ok, I think I need to explain some things. We as a Mod and admin team had alot of suspicions about Sammie for a while, now the big reason we did'nt say anything about it was, what if we were wrong?...there was no way of knowing for sure so we had to build up a case study of her profiles, contact the previous sites she was banned from and find out the details, the last thing we would want is to ban someone who really was genuine. Unfortuantley the evidence stacked against her in this case ( Photos she had which had been badly photoshopped, going to Parent meets without any children with her, and alot of other evidence that did'nt add up ) At the end of the day, we are here to protect our members from such people, and I hope we are doing the best job we can for you all, but I hope you understand our reasons for not saying anything sooner than now, trust me it's been very difficult not to include you all in the investigation process, but we had to be sure. Thank you for your understanding in this matter, and the matter is now closed, we will continue to protect you guys as best as we possibly can, and if you have any suspicions of any members, PM one of us and we will look into it. I am farily sure that the members we have here are honest, genuine people, but there are people out there that simply need help, and Sammie is one of them and I hope she gets the help she needs.

i think the mods and admin team on here are doing a fab job. were very lucky to have such a caring team. there are many forums who dont and constantly have these 'unhappy' people taking over their forums

I'll just add to this to apologise for not posting today about this situation, but I've been half way across the country since 5am for a business meeting so haven't had a chance to get on the internet till now!

Our wonderful mods have explained the circumstances better than I could!

I'd just like to add, that the reason there was no official announcement at the time of Sammie's banning was the fact that although it has become apparent that Sammie is not who she said she was, she is still a real person, who obviously has some issues she needs to address.

I had hoped that, despite her misleading our community, we could send her off without it becoming a public lynching. I also believe that people who deceive like this may gain some enjoyment from seeing the reaction to being found out, hence the reason for contacting members privately by PM.

I know that situations like this scare the hell out of a lot of you and make you very unsure about being a part of a community like this in an open and honest way, but I'd like to assure you that we do everything we can to keep this site safe and friendly.

Many parenting forums have to deal with people like this on a monthly basis, but in the 3 years I have been running a parenting forum, we have only had 2 instances where a member has turned out to be fake after an extended period of time.

This is in many ways a reminder to be careful with what you post online, but please don't feel that you can't be open and honest on this site, after all there are nearly 2000 other genuine, honest and real parents here who are friendly and enjoy your company!

I'll be posting a thread in the next few days explaining the systems we have in place to protect this community, and welcome your feedback on how we can look after you whilst you're on this website 🙂
