can anyone help?
we are currently living in a 2 bedroomed house, its owned by a housing association and we own 20% share of it,we would like a 3 bedroomed house as we now have 2 children and ethans room is so small so conrad shares with us,we are on a fairly low income of only £500 a month even thou we own our own business, just spoke to the housing association and they just told me they cannot help at all,I have filled in the forms for a council house but think I may be waiting forever with them, whats the chances of getting help from anybody or even a mortgage with being self employed, advice needed please
we are with a housing association 'Touchstone' (or Midland Heart whatever they like to be called)
and we live in a 2bed terraced, and i know our rules state that only 4 people can live in our house - what they dont tell you is children under 8 they class as half a person - so basically, theres me + kev + ethan = 1 + 1 + 1/2 = 2.1/2 so we would only be able to move if we had 4 children!!!!
they also state that no child over the age of 8 should share a bedroom. so depending on the age of your eldest depends on what they have for you.
we have a share too - but as they have the higher share - you still abide under their rules.unless your willing to increase your share,so you are on a higher band than them - they then have to consider you more.
its crazy ethans room is a box room and its tiny ethan is 3 and conrad shares with us as he is only 9 months, but just thinking about in years to come etc,
i know what you mean hun! we only have ethan but if we had another kid - say we had a girl... they would have to share a bedroom till ethan turned 8yrs old and touchstone decides to move us! but thats a long way off yet and next yr we have the right to completely buy the house as you have to be with them 5yrs first.so maybe we can buy this and sell up then move somewhere bigger or even extend on this.
how about asking them for a loft extension or somthing? the people across the road from me have had this done.
no chance as our house is tiny not even enough to do a extension in loft or anywhere
