Sooooo annoyed

I work in a hotel as a Front Desk Manager / Duty Manager

There are a fair few people in the team and we've all been asked to put down a cpl of months ago our preferences for working at xmas / new year. The only day i said i didnt want to work was xmas day.

A rota has been done but not realeased as a 'gay' guy on the team thinks it's unfair that he has been put down to work and that myself along with another mum have the day off.

There are plenty of other people on the team who do not have kids but also have been allocated Xmas day off! Therefore it's not because he hasn't got small children that he is working..

However he has gone to HR sayng he is annoyed and thinks it's been done unfairly, so now the rota cannot be released.

I don't do the rota, and he's on the same level as me. I'm annoyed as we get on like a house on fire, i love him to peices - however he cannot see why us mums want the day off with our little ones and that we think that more important than him having the day off with his mum - we don't necessarily think it's more important but his mum can understand he has to work where as children cannot.

I can see his point of view as no-one wants to work over crimbo - but after xmas day he is down for holiday days/days off until the 3rd Jan.

I've just recieved this in an email from my manager as to why the rota isn't out yet, grrrrr

Some people use the minority card waaaaaaaaaayyy too much. He should suck it up and get on with it. There are plenty of people who would love Christmas off but can't get it and they accept it because it's contractual. People like that make me really mad, especially when there are folks who have to work most days of the year just to make ends meet. They accept all the money they can get without bitchin about when they have to work for it.

Oh i know exactly what you mean wyked witch!! He's very quick to jump on the bandwagon if it means he can get what he wants...

Well i recieved my rota last night and i must say i am VERY pleased with it!

I'm off xmas eve and xmas day, on an early boxing day (0645-1515), then lates the following three days (1445-2300), and then i am off over new year and do not return until 5th Jan. 😀 Not that we do anything New Years eve - we don't have anyone who could babysit anyway...

We have step dd staying on Boxing day so dp will pick her up before i finish work, although she may change her mind and come xmas day.

I've lots of time off work this month, i've just had two weeks holiday and still have a days holiday to take each week leading up until xmas..yay!!

I'm so happy i worked every bank hol this year as i got a lieu day and a holiday day for my trouble... 😀
