heeeeeeelllllllllp!!!

Never been on a parenting forum before but in desperate need of some help our little girl is 13 months and from 3 weeks slept through the night from 7pm till 7am in her own bed(great stuff) but earlier this year she was poorly and she slept with us for a few nights (and liked it) now she wants to be in our bed all the time and is waking two and three times a night to get back in our bed I am settling her and putting her back into her own bed but each morning she is waking up with us!
This is causing major friction between my husband and I and I wanted some advice from real moms and dads.
can someone help us please
Many Thanks Olivias Mommy and Daddy 😕 x x x

Hi

My eldest, 10 today, went through a phase of not sleeping well at a similar age and was suffering with night terrors and it took a while to get her back into her pattern of sleeping.

A couple of things, where are you settling her? If it is your bed then you need to stop that and do it in her bed otherwise she is getting what she wants.

Try making her bed more "fun" so that she prefers it to yours. Maybe a new bedset, or maybe she needs a night light if she doesn't have one at the moment.

My little boy who will soon be 4 used to get up a lot at night as well, and the best thing we found was to contain him!!! So we put a stairgate on his bedroom door to stop him getting out. Worked a treat as he would get fed up and either play in his room or go back to bed.

Hope this helps as I know that what you are going through isn't nice.

I agree with what Orc30. You need to settle them in their own room.

My son was just the same, we would take him to our bed because it was easier - but when he started pointing to our bed we knew we had to knock it on the head. I calmed him down and then put him back into his own bed, even if he cried again as soon as I put him back I would put the cover over him, turn out the light and shut the door. Gave him 5 minutes, then went back in and did the same. It takes some sticking to, but within a few days it became easier to settle him.

another mistake we made was giving him milk - a good tip another member gave on here was to give only water instead, he would have a sip and then push the cup away. Eventually he stopped crying for milk as he knew he wasn't going to get any and had to go to sleep.

Good luck hun, I know how frustrating this must be for both of you. If you haven't had much sleep you are already on a short fuse to begin with x

ive got the same problem..jessica was poorly and wouldnt sleep without me and now she is in bed with me..she likes to hold my fingers when she wakes up and i used to put my hands through the bars of the cot and she was fine but now ive moved her cot to the other side of my bedroom i carnt hold her hand..so she is in bed with me lol..

this was exactly like me with ethan! i would not leave the room until hed gone sleep and he wouldnt go sleep when he was smaller unless i lay there and held his hand thru the cot! wen he woke for a feed i was pretty lazy and,cuz i breast fed, would just put him in our bed lie down n feed him n next thing u know its morning! it heppened every night! i hated to put him into his own room-think i finally did just before he was 8months! but he was fantastic! but like everyone elses lo's hes going thru this faze of wakin up around 4 so im putting him in our bed n hes fine-although i really shouldnt do this! iv put a stairgate on his door but he gets bored of playing with his toys very easily when hes alone (and throwing them over the gate in attempt to get at our room!)

I think I will try letting her cry, you just feel guilty as I'm sutre you all know that your not doing your job properly I have the same problem as crazy_girl because Olivia likes to play with my fingers too.
I think I'll spend the next few nights just putting her back in the bed and letting her try to get herself off.

Thanks for all the advice guys really appreciate it
