race for life?
just wondering if anyone was going to register for this years or had done one in the past? my sis and her friend have just persuaded me into it so going to register as soon as i can (in 4 days time) and have registered my interest already ive posted the link incase anyone else wants it http://www.raceforlife.org/
Nope. ð I do not trust all of the pink ribbon, breast cancer stuff that people do. I have never seen proof that the money goes to any location that helps any.
I have had breast cancer surgeries and I can tell you NONE of these groups were any help in any way. ðĪŠ It is all advertising, all just a farce to get attention for Tesco/Wal-Mart and a few other large fortune 500 companies. ð
I did Race for Life in 2005. I honestly don't know where exactly the money is spent but I still think it was worth it. I did it with my friend who was watching her mum suffer with cancer(and has since died)and it really brought us together as she felt I was supporting her. There is a strong atmosphere as everyone has had cancer or loved someone with it and has an empathy with each other. It's not about running fast it's taking part. Go for it ð
I'd like to do it too - my step-mum asked me last year if I'd like to do it with her. I'll have a look at that link definitely. ð
Oh was thinking of doing it this year ð just trying to rope somone into doing it with me ð
Im sure you will be fine Jo.
I know someone who did this and really enjoyed herself, even though she was exhausted by the end of it
Good luck when you do it ð
I have to disagree with Sassy on this one - I have done Race for Life, in my experience Cancer Research UK is a legitimate organistion, it's only sponsored by Tesco. I raced in 2003. I raced with 1000's of women affectd by breast cancer, it's a truly awe-inspiring thing to do. An emotional day - you'll really walk away from this with a stronger sense of the silent killer.
