Free Loader Father In-Law

My father in law moved in 7 mths ago and he is still lazy and does not work. watches tv all day does not want to do anything I am tired of it. He does not want to help around the house at all. He is diabetic he does not want to take care of himself and I am just wasting my time taking him to the doctor he does not listen to what we say. He has no where else to go and I feel bad if I throw him out he has no where else to go. Worst of all I have 3 kids and they are tired of him too, He does not have a room so he sleeps in the living room so the kids cannot play where he is cause it bothers him. I cannot even have company over like friends cause he is just sitting there. I have no privacy. Fiancially we have to stay where we are living because he has become another expense we had no choice my husbands brother just put him on a bus from California and send him over to us without us agreeing. My husband and I have already spoken to him and he still continues what do we do? 🤔

If it was me i would say look we cant put you up for ever you have to find a place of your own and in the mean time get of your butt and help around the home e.c.t i know it sounds harsh but maybe that is the only way he would listen ? 🤔

That's a sucky situation, I don't have much advise but just wanted to say good luck and welcome to the forum... I hope he get's off his *ss or finds his own place to live... let us know how it goes, great group of people here to vent to 😀

Why doesn't he apply for a council flat? If he has no home and no money he clearly can't buy or privately rent and sleeping on your sofa basically classes him as homeless. It is especially inappropriate with your children unable to play in their own sitting room,you could say it's not right they might see him undressed in the morning etc. If he is very ill with his Diabetes his doctor will write a letter of support to the council which will get him extra points on the award system. If you write a letter saying you are making him leave they will have to house him sooner. Good luck and pester the council because it does work
