Walked out of my job!!

Ok, so this is a long story, with a - if i say so myself - fantastically dramatic ending!

I work - worked!! - at a little pub on the other side of town. Fantasic staff, really cool friendly regulars.

Problem was the landlord, the boss.

Miserable offensive 😠

Always getting drunk and speaking to the staff like he had just scraped us off the bottom of his shoe.

It got to the point where on sunday i sat his wife down and explained the issues to her, made her aware of the fact that it was getting to a point where the staff weren't going to put up with it anymore and they were going to start losing staff.

Well, monday and tuesday I was in, and got the feeling she was keeping him away from the pub to give us some space.

I went into work on thursday night and from the moment i got there he was on one at me. Now personally i think that she told him i had spoke to her and a few beers later he was having a strop about it. Anything and everything to have a go at me. effing and blinding, expecting the impossible in a busy and badly run and stocked pub.

I was working with a friend also, we just get looking at each other and taking deep breaths. The boss made one comment and one of the guys who satys in the pub (b&b) said something to him - sticking up for us basically and saying that we shouldnt be spoken to like that.

The boss was then having a massive go at him for sticking his nose in. I said to him 'seriously, if you want to keep your staff you need to take a good look at the way you speak to us'. He just turned to me and said ' oi you shut the f*** up'

That did it as far as i was concerned, the next words that came out of my mouth were 'f*** you' He asked me if i wanted to leave i said yes and threw my till key at him, he asked my friend if she was going to and she said actually yeah. We walked out together - and about 20 of the customers, having seen what happened, followed us out of the pub.

He had it coming, there is only so much you can put up with, and i dont go to work to be treated that way.

Hun I think your actions were cemented when 20 of the patrons walked out of the pub with you! I would have done the same, he is a bad boss and a bad landlord! Sounds a bit of an alchy to me, running a pub isn't the best vocation for him!

ive walked out of more than one job because of a power crazed - think they run the show boss. i jut cannot and will not tolerate being spoken to like 😠 that is bullying.

well done for not taking it and probably empowering others to not accept it either!!!

like rich says if its under a brewery and not a free house speak up. i am sure you will get another job soon probably worth asking the brewery to provide a reference.
