Hi, We're back from camping and Aaralyn got hurt (long post)
We had a great time until Saturday afternoon Aaralyn put her hands flat down on the lid of a hot gas grill! I don't think anyone can imagine the pain she was in. After immediately putting her hands in ice and trying to calm her down (she was hysterical and I thought she was gonna go into shock), we took her to the emergency room and she has 2nd and 3rd degree burns from her finger tips to the heel of her palm on both of her hands. They treated with burn cream and dressed it with bandages and sent us back with some pain meds for her. The little sweetheart never complained one time about it after we got back to camp. We're were gonna go home but she insisted she wanted to stay even though she couldn't do much. There were about 150 people (all great friend's of my BF's) who were at the camp all waiting to see how she was when we got back. She was treated by everyone like the little princess she is and got so much love, attention and treats from everybody (who'd want to leave that righ?! 🙂 ) She is such a strong little trouper and kept saying she wished she could take that part of the day and make it go away and she kept saying she was sorry and she wished she didn't do it. I just loved her and loved her and told her not to be sorry, that I was sorry it happened. I have to change the bandages twice a day and keep the burn cream on the burns. She has blisters on the heel of her hand like I have never seen in my life and she looks at them and says "whoa look at the HUGE bubbles!!" She's also going around saying she's lucky cuz she gets to wear cool white gloves (what she's calling the bandaging)
We did end up having some fun saturday night and came home Sunday afternoon. The only time she complains now is when it itches and she can't scratch it. Poor little thing also can't feed herself or really do anything with her hands for a few more days. Dr said it was good to not let the blisters break so we're are trying and she's being a great little patient 😍 .
That is the first time my baby has been in severe pain and I hope no parent ever has to see their LO in so much agony. It broke my heart and of course I felt guilty even though it happened in a split second, I wish I could have stopped. The thing is she keeps tellilng me she knew the grill was hot but she just wasn't paying attention, and I tell her it's ok and give her hugs. Arrhg, why do they have to learn the hard way sometimes 😢 . I hope I will never see her in pain like that again 🙁 , that, so far was the hardest thing I have ever gone through (and I've been through alot!)
So, with that said, I missed ya'll and I'm glad to be home. I'm glad that it wasn't worse (the grill had been just turned on minute before or she would have been physically scarred for life)
aww hunni poor aaralyn 😍 😘
what a brave little girl! 😘 😘 😘 😘
oh my god that's horrible,
she sounds very brave hope she is not in to much pain sending you both a big hug 😘
how long will it take to heal?
carla said:Thank you from me and Aaralyn Hayley and Carla. The Dr said it would take some time, depending on if the blisters come open or not (then we have to be more concerned with infection). He said a good few days of not doing anything with her hands and then it should start healing nicely I hope. She's going to see her Dr on Wednesday so we'll see what he says. She's taking something with codeine for the pain and she's just all dazed out and sleepy (not her usual self) but she's still saying it doesn't hurt and she's in a happy, but groggy, mood 🙃

What a brave girl she is, mush have been awful for you, hope they heal really quick for her x x
Thanks JOJO and Kerry. She's just enjoyed me feeding her a fudgecicle and watching a marathon of Spongebob, so she is quite happy at the moment. She's getting to watch more tv than usual cuz she can't do her usual playing and coloring, ect...
Yes, JOJO, it was a shock. I just sat there and held her with the ice until somebody would tell me what to do. Marc and his friend's were great and jumped right in to find out where the closest hospital was.
mumof2_jo said:Thanks Jo, she really is taking it like a champ! She's very emotionally sensitive (like her mama) but she is being really strong about this.

(((((((((((hugs))))))))))) to you and Aaralyn xxx
I have just read your post and things do hope in a split second but you must not blame yourself for this. Its horrible when something like this happens and it could of been worse then what it was. I hope your little does not suffer to much and least you can give her plenty of love.
I have been there when Alex was younger before I could stop him he went in the dog kennel and the dog turned. Alex fell over and the dog set about him. The thing is Alex had to have stitches to his nose and I was in a right panic. I was in that much of a panic I ended up having oxygen I was so ill I was in shock. Alex still has the scar now and I don't like him going near dogs so I can understand what you went thru even if the accident wasn't like what alex went thru its still awful.
Hugs

Thanks Stacey and Shell. She's only just started complaining this evening. I think it's more frustration with not being able to do the things she normally does. We're at Marc's now but I think we're gonna go home, crawl in my bed together and have a nice quiet night of movie watching (Aaralyn and I, I mean 😉 .
I'll see ya'll on here tomorrow. Have a great night and a great morning over there
shell said:I can imagine that must have been really scary too OMG!! I heard a horrible story about something that happened to a child recently by a dog (I won't even post the story, it's that bad)

Hi hun i hope that by the time you read this little Aaralyn's hands are on the way to recovering. It must have been awful but unfortunately these things do happen so Don't blame your self babe.
sending you both big 😘 and 😘
Glad the little sweetheart still soldiered on after all that just shows how strong she really is.xxxxx
Hey hun, I had no idea until I read the post in parenting! Hugs to you both 😘
Charlotte burned her hand when she was about 9 months old, she was at my parents and she crawled up to a steel teapot and put her hand on it. Unfortunately she didn't straight away take her hand away from it as she was shocked by the burn. My dad literally stuck her under the kitchen tap. He was absolutely devastated. She was fine though and bounced right back. She had a bandaged hand for a couple of weeks but no scarring, or infection and some of her blisters popped!
Thinking of you both x
