New Dad in need of help....
I'm gonna be a Dad for the first time around Nov. 30 2007 and I'm completely clueless when it comes to babies. I just found out that the sex of my baby is a girl and I know even less about girls! I'm in the U.S. Army so I know how to jump out of airplanes, survive in the wilderness, and how to shoot....but I don't think that those would be considered as good parenting skills. I don't know what to do and I'm scared to death that I'll do the wrong thing. Can anybody recommend any good books that might be helpful to read? I seriously don't know the first thing about kids. I'm only 20 yrs. old and i don't know how to feed a baby, what they can/cant eat, or even how to change a diaper. Please, any help from you guys would be greatly appreciated. If you do have advice, you can post it here or feel free to email me.
First of all dont worry u r not the first dad-to-be to worry about things like this. I bet though ur OH is just as scared and anxious. I was 19 when i had my 1st and I had the exact same fears. Yet once u see that litle bundle all ur fears will settle. Don't be afraid to ask for help, people will understand. Every new parent has to learn and u will, and im sure u will be a wonderful father.
Congrats and good luck 🙂
Hey there firstly congrat and good luck! Welcome to Jp, you will get lots of help and advice from here, but you really shouldnt worry too much! Yes I know easy for me to say but trust me once you see your baby it will all juts happen for you! Its like something takes over you! if that makes sense!

hey, its very nerve wrecking bein first time parent, but u will be surprised how natural it is and it just comes to you, u know what to do etc, its not as bad as some ppl make out, changing a nappy is a doddle hehehe..there are books u can get it libraries and book shops that can help you!
congrats btw 😀
First of all, Congratulations 😀
Ok, well don't worry my friend, all first timers have the fear of God in them when faced with the prosect of doing something they have never done before - having their own baby. But let me assure you, they are very easy to maintain and look after ( did I just make that sound like a car? ) the nerves and fear will dissapear the minute you first hold your new arrival, you will have an overwhelming feeling of protecting that bundle in your arms. Changing a babys bum is as easy as...falling off a log? 🙂 mostly self explanitory when you see how they work, couple of velcro strips and your done! 🙂 Feeding is easy too, for the first few months it's milk or formula out of a bottle, slightly heated for them, not too hot, not too cold ( Testing is done by sprinkling some of the bottle contents onto your wrist )...hows the guide so far?...With both yourself and your Partner, you will be able to support eachother through each and ever hurdle, and if you do get stuck with anything, well we are always here, or you could get advice from your own parents, after all, they've been there already and will no doubt offer as much love and support for the little one 😀 If you need any other advice, then feel free to ask here, we're a friendly bunch and will advise you as best as possible.
Welcome to JP and Congratulations!
Like has already been said, it is really nerve racking but it does just come naturally almost!
They are plenty of books for parenting, maybe try the Dummies Guides to babies/parenting I'm sure they will give you the general idea. Also, if it is possible, go to parentcraft classes with your partner they will have good advice I'm sure.
Good luck
