I haven't had a water birth myself but I have several friends who swear by them 🙂 I've had 3 homebirths with TENS machine and I count being at home as contraction management (I'm not going to say pain relief cos that makes it sound more like it's painful, and it's not always painful for everyone, kwim? During my last homebirth, I actually had one contraction make me laugh, which was really odd but nice 🙂 ) There's hypnobirthing to consider too 🙂
I was wondering about these too.
I'm scared of needles (although u wouldnt think it with the piercings ive had done :P) but i had to be induced last time as dd pooed in the womb and was stressed and they suggested an epidural as the induction would make my contractions faster and harder. I had an epidural - could hardly feel a thing - no pain - was concentrating on contractions - then it was bliss! didnt feel a thing until little lady was on her way out! I'm considering having an apidural again this time - but im hoping i wont need to be induced and that everything goes a bit more smoothly!
dont know anyone who has had a water birth but know many who used the bath during contractions to help ease the pain.
i was induced with gel and ended up having morphine injections and anti sickness jabs (i hate needles) but because I was in pain I didnt actually feel them. also had to have a spinal injection because i retained my placenta and didnt feel that either. Remember with an epidural the needle goes in and is taken back out again, many people think the needle stays in!!!
ask you m/w for advice
Thank you everyone..you here a lot of storeys about the epidurals and i think they sound scary. i will just have to see how i cope with the pain before i start screaming for one lol

If u want one hun u have to ask there and then! If u get too far gone they wont give you one - plus the doc who gives them needs to be in the facility at the time - i was lucky as she was just leaving and they called her in quickly.
Hello! I had a waterbirth with my second and would definitely recommend it - it was very relaxing and almost enjoyable! My first was a long labour with two epidurals (first one wore off) so I wasn't looking forward to the arrival of number two. I got into the pool at midnight (5cm) and baby arrived at 2.40am; I felt that the water really helped with the contractions, and it was lovely to feel 'light' and not like a great awkward lump! I thought I'd need gas and air but ended up not having any pain relief at all - never thought that would happen 🙂
