Pull ups vs nappies
So apologies if this is somewhat of a newbie first time mum question! But, for an older - fully daytime potty trained kid (4 yr/old) - is there a reason why we should be using primarily the pull-up sort of nappy pants/nighttime pull-ups overnight? As opposed to the larger sized proper side tab fastening nappies? For a kid that is a DEEP sleeper and still wakes up wet most nights, more often than not? We haven’t transitioned to pull ups yet as we had lots of tab nappies leftover from before potty training but we are down to the last 10 so need to get some more this week, We have been using Pampers (blue packet) primarily
Not a silly question at all! 😊 If your daughter is already fully daytime potty trained and only needs protection overnight, there's no rule that says you have to switch to pull-ups.
In my experience, the main advantage of nighttime pull-ups is convenience. They're easier for children who get up to use the toilet during the night or who want to put them on themselves, which can help build independence.
If she's a very deep sleeper and almost always wakes up wet without getting up during the night, side-tab nappies are perfectly reasonable as long as they fit well, don't leak, and she's comfortable in them. In fact, some parents find that tab-style nappies in the larger sizes hold more overnight than pull-ups.
I'd choose whichever gives the best overnight absorbency and the fewest leaks. When she starts waking to use the toilet or wants to manage bedtime herself, that's usually a good time to consider switching to pull-ups. There's no need to rush the change just because she's daytime trained.
