Waking up tired!

Even though my daughter sleeps through the night now, I find that I'm always, always tired. It's such a different kind of tired than when I worked full time at an office - even though I was super busy then, it's a different kind of busy where you can switch off.

I think when you're a parent, your brain never, ever really switches off - so tiredness just becomes a way of life.

How about you - do you find you're always tired? What are your ways of dealing with it? Coffee is my go-to, but I'd prefer not having to rely on it so much!

I couldn't agree with you more. Being tired definitely is something that seems to never go away. No more sleeping like a baby after mommy hood. I constantly wake up during the night always check on the kids and doors as well as windows. If I am really restless I'll even get up and do some of the chores that are meant for later. I miss sleeping like I had no worries in the world though. But I wouldn't trade in my mother's card for it. 😛

I completely remember that tiredness and thinking my life would never get back to normal. It felt like I was in a walking coma for a few years. I really don't do well without proper sleep. I remember just being in a complete brain fog and never being able to awake rested from a night's sleep, naps wouldn't help in the least, etc. It was just a never ending exhaustion.

But my youngest is 5 now and things are more settled. I am having normal nights of sleep now, and I'm feeling more like a normal person again! So there's light at the end of the tunnel!

@barbiedoll you have put my mind at ease that one day in the future perhaps I won't feel so exhausted - so thank you for that!! I definitely think knowing there is a light at the end of tunnel makes things easier! I guess that when they're a little older and can do more things with little or no supervision then perhaps I'll feel more rested. Thank you for the positivity!!

I know the kind of tiredness you speak of. I think it's the constant working brain too. When you have young kids you tend to worry a lot. You have this fear that if you get into a deep sleep they might be in trouble and you want to know if that happens. That was my case, at least. My daughter slept on the bed beside me and I would worry about rolling onto her and hurting her. I would worry about her feeling ill and so I practically slept with one eye open. it took quite a toll on me.

Oh how I wish there was just a pause button sometimes in life that would let us all just catch up on some much needed sleep. I remember those days when the kids were younger and it was really hard to get some sleep, but even now I could use a little more. It is crazy how life just seems to creep up on you and you are faced with not enough hours in the day, days in the week and so on.

I can definitely feel you! During the first few months of my baby, I wasn't even working at home yet and still, I felt that tiredness. It's like every sleep you can get is priceless. Right now, I'm working from home and goodness, that tiredness won't leave me. Especially since I work at night and just get some sleep during the day, about three or four hours. And believe, there are days that I just want to sleep all day but I cannot, lol.

Well, my only way to deal with this is to sleep which I don't get enough of. Sometimes, I take a nap while my baby's playing. Haha. We just stay in the room anyway and he has his own world playing with his toys so I can get like 15 minutes of nap.

My hubby has actually taken my daughter out for some daddy daughter time this morning, running errands and things like that - so I'm going to lie down for a while and take a little nap myself, I think! Gotta catch those zzz's when and where you can!
