What I liked most
When our baby was a few weeks old, we quickly realised something: there are lots of situations where a pram just isn’t practical. Quick trips to the shop, walks with the dog, or getting things done around the house are all much easier when you can keep your baby close and your hands free.
After a lot of recommendations from other parents, we decided to try the Ergobaby Omni Breeze Baby Carrier. It’s often mentioned as one of the most versatile baby carriers available, and after several months of using it, I can see why.
First Impressions
The first thing I noticed was how solid and well-made it feels. Some carriers look complicated, but this one is fairly intuitive once you’ve figured out the straps and buckles.
The material is a breathable mesh fabric designed to maximise airflow, which makes a noticeable difference when you’re wearing a baby for longer periods or during warmer weather.
It also has a wide waistband and padded shoulder straps, which help spread your baby’s weight across your hips and back rather than your shoulders.
Using It Day to Day
We’ve used the carrier for everything from walks around the neighbourhood to longer days out.
One thing I really appreciate is that it grows with your baby. The carrier adjusts as they get bigger and can be used from newborn size (around 3.2 kg) up to about 20 kg, meaning it can realistically last well into toddlerhood.
There are also four different carrying positions:
- Facing inward (great for newborns)
- Facing outward once baby has good head control
- Hip carry
- Back carry for older babies or toddlers
Having those options makes it useful for different stages and situations.
Most of the time we use the inward-facing position when our baby is sleepy, but the outward-facing position is great when they’re awake and curious about the world.
Comfort for Parent and Baby
Baby carriers can be hit or miss when it comes to comfort, but this one does a good job.
The design supports the baby’s hips in the recommended “M position”, where the knees are slightly higher than the bottom. This position is considered better for hip development.
From the parent side, the lumbar support and padded straps make a big difference. Even on longer walks, the weight feels evenly distributed rather than pulling on your shoulders.
The breathable mesh fabric is another big plus — both baby and parent stay noticeably cooler compared with thicker carriers.
Things I Didn’t Love
No baby product is perfect, and there are a couple of things worth mentioning.
The first is the learning curve. The straps and adjustments can feel slightly confusing the first few times you use it, especially if you’re sleep-deprived and trying to get out of the door quickly.
It’s also a fairly structured carrier, which means it’s bulkier than lightweight wraps or slings. If you’re looking for something that packs into a small bag, this might feel a bit big.
And finally, it’s definitely a premium-priced carrier, which may not suit every budget.
My Overall Verdict
After months of use, the Ergobaby Omni Breeze has become one of those baby items we reach for almost every day.
It’s comfortable, adaptable, and practical enough to use from the early months right through the toddler stage. The breathable fabric, multiple carrying positions, and strong back support make it especially useful for parents who expect to babywear regularly.
If you’re looking for a single carrier that can handle most situations, this is a very solid option.

One thing to know
“Practise adjusting it at home before your first full day out, especially if two adults will share it.”
