Teething and Sleep

My (almost) 6mo old is getting her first two teeth and it has been a rough week. Today is day 6 of no naps and extreme crankyness. Poor girl just can't seem to sleep and is then very tired for most of the day, I've barely been able to get anything done. I've tried all the obvious things, my older daughter had seemingly no issues when she got her teeth so I am a little inexperienced with this one. How do/did you help your baby get through teething?

I vaguely remember those days, so just wanted to offer my sympathies lol.. I can imagine how painful and exhausting it is for her. And for you too! We co-slept, so that's probably why I don't remember it being a big deal. Always there for comfort and cold chewies etc, everyone got their sleep minus a few of the tougher nights when it may have hurt the most (waking up more often, rather than staying up hours).

Those first teeth are really a bummer. My son had zero tolerance for pain. I tried everything: teething rings (both frozen and warmed), baby orajel, baby Tylenol, baby massage, whiskey (for me Wink ). Sometimes they worked, sometimes they didn't. Sometimes I think he was more cranky from lack of sleep than from pain.
Just keep doin what you can. It'll be over soon.

Probably more exhausting for her. Thankfully she still slept well at night. The worst is over now and they are just starting to poke through. She can't get over feeling them with her tongue. Now we just have to get through the biting while nursing phase. Wink

Definitely Tylenol! During the day we would load up a mesh feeder with frozen banana or other frozen fruits for her to chomp on, but at night time as long as she had some Tylenol it seemed to take away the pain from her somewhat. I've also tried her on teething tablets, there's an all natural brand (Hyland's Baby) - we had varying levels of success with those but some people I know rave about them and say they're amazing - I guess it's different from child to child!
