Do you miss working away from home?

I've been a work-at-home-mom for that past seven years. I love the advantages this has over the hustle and bustle of commuting to the office. Actually I wish I had done this sooner. Of all the wonderful that working at home gives me, I love that I get so much time to spend with my kids.

However, I must say that I miss some aspects of office life with real live colleagues. I remember the office chats, tea-breaks, and staff parties. I also miss the adult conversations you get in the workplace which are quite different from conversing with a spouse or friends after work.

That being said, I wouldn't trade my working at home experiences to go back to the old life. I love it.

Don't miss it at all. Although the bigger income was helpful, I don't support most businesses anymore and prefer not to contribute to things I can't get behind. I don't like helping to line fat cats' pockets if I can help it, I don't miss the gossip lol, I don't like being treated like I'm owned (which we are, but we don't have to be treated like we are by someone else who is lol)... I just don't miss it or believe in it. Life is what we make it and if we miss certain things about work outside of the home, we can get those aspects in other ways. And when I'm done raising my boys at home, I'll get back into business again.. in a way that I can be proud of.

I hear you @JosieP. The part about enriching others really hits home. When you think about how much some of these business owners make and how little they pay their employees, it really nicks a nerve. It's so much better using your effort to line your own pocket than to be owned by someone else. The best part is that I kids benefit from it more.

I'm a stay/work at home mom, too, and I own & run a business all from my home office. I haven't really found any serious issues with it at all and I wouldn't change it for the world.

As for missing certain aspects... can't say I do. Before establishing my business, I've worked at a hospital, a real estate office, a factory, and a photography studio in my lifetime.. starting as a teen. The only thing that comes even close to "missing" any of it is when I do go somewhere on a busy weekday morning and realize there's a "bustling world" out there... but I get over that feeling real fast.

I have found no disadvantages at all either personal or professional from doing at home what I had always done in the work force.

Working from home is a blessing]!!!!!
I am satisfied with my life and I know part of it has to do with me working from home now. I set my own hours, and rules. I can sit in the comfort of my own home, and not have to worry about other people's attitudes, lack of professionalism, or someone stealing my lunch out of the refrigerators that everyone in the company uses. No way do I miss commuting, traffic, and bad songs on the radio that you are forced to listen to in order to kill time while sitting in traffic. Gone are the days of office parties and team motivational speeches, don't get me wrong it was needed, but I don't miss this at all. I love being at home for my three children and husband, being able to look after my family and work at the same time has changed our lives. Mommy is now home when you get off of the bus, and not to mention after school snacks waiting for them while I get dinner prepared. I am in love with the fact that I can have a career from home while doing my most important job which is being a mother and wife to the special people in my life.

I think sometimes it can really be a case of the grass being greener on the other side. Sometimes I do miss that adult interaction and the feeling of achievement that came with working outside the home. Sometimes being a stay-at-home parent can feel like a thankless job and I have to remind myself that I am doing a good job -- whereas when you're working in an office or working outside the home you generally have someone giving you feedback on how you're doing. Not having that side of things can be tough!

Since I lost my job last month, I have been working from home or at least trying to so I do not have to go back to the horrible world of dealing with customers. I worked in a restaurant for over 20 years and I can honestly say I do not miss it. I do not have to deal with lazy people, rude people, and a boss who talked to everyone like they were 5 years old. I do not miss the stress either. I am hoping that I can become a stay at home mom which I never thought I would say. I just need to find a good consistent income online and then I will have it made.

I have been a work-at-home mom for the past 5 years. I made this decision because I wanted to take care of my own children. I guess this is the main reason for many work-at-home moms.

I really enjoy spending time with my children all day long, watching them growing up day by day. Moreover, I can save all the hassles to get up early in the morning (though I wake up even much earlier than before), dress up and stuck in the traffic. I have more time to do what I want to do now, and more flexible as well.

Though sometimes I miss the days spending good time with my colleagues and working as a team with them, I don't think I'll like to go back to office and work. I still prefer to work at home.
