Great Deals on Winter Boots

It took me almost 12 years to figure this out but I just bought my son new winter boots in January rather than when the winter season begins. I paid about half price for the boots, I bought them a bit bigger so I know they'll last until next January when I'll buy him new boots at half off too. Anyone else buy new winter boots for their kids at this time of year. It just seems like a great way to save money.

I agree that it would be a great time to buy boots for the kids. But NOT online! At least not for me! Actually I wish I'd thought of this before I was burned on it again a few months ago. Bottom line is that I resisted buying boots and shoes online for any of us for a long time, and particularly my daughter... but I gave in a few months ago and bought her a pair for a Christmas gift.

Huge mistake... they don't fit and I'm once again kicking myself and having to decide if I want to mess with sending them back and hope they do the refund right this time... or just take the hit.

I should have bought them in a brick & mortar store. I'm going shopping later this morning so maybe I'll look to see if any of my stores have this January discount on boots. She still needs some and I hear snow's coming by the weekend.

I think I am really lucky, because I bought a pair of winter boots probably about ten years ago and they are still going strong. I always go up north around this time of year, when it is really cold out, and they have a store up there that sells a lot of Patagonia winter gear, and I have never seen their boots before that day but I picked up a pair and they are great. So maybe the deal is not where to look, but finding a good quality boot really matters. Patagonia is my suggestion.

I absolutely love Patagonia clothes. They are well made and super warm. They do cost a bit more but I think they are well worth the extra money I have never tried their boots before but I will be on the look out now. For the family I like to buy Sorel winter boots, super warm and well made. They get us all through our Canadian winter. For me, Sorel boots last about 5-7 years and then I'm on the lookout for new ones. Once I start to slip on ice I know the treads are gone and I need new boots.
