Is anyone else having problems getting their flu jab? I received a letter from my gp in August telling me how important it was to get the flu jab and to make an appointment straight away. I rang the same day (explaining that i had an egg allergy) and was given an appointment for October. Went for the appointment to be told that the vaccine they had in was not egg free and they would have to order another one! On each maternity hospital visit I have they ask if i've had it yet. I've been in touch with the surgery and my midwife serveral times but to no avail. It's so frustrating, on the one hand they are telling me it's so important and on the other they dont have one to give me! I rang again today to be told to try a local hospital, they have it but wont prescribe it as it's on a Drs prescription pad! I have to now go on a bus journey to the Drs, pick up the prescription, then another bus journey to Boots pharmacy who are ordering it in hopefully to arrive tomorrow! The pharmicist then proceeded to tell me how much it would cost me! I have an exemption certificate and have diabetes so should get it for nothing! Well I will find out sometime after 2pm today! Wish me luck!

(Also I am not immune to Rubella after an 'oversight' with my blood results. And have to have the immunisation for that after the baby is born!)

Hi, I have never had a flu jab so can't be of much help there I'm afraid. I can tell you that today is the last day my surgery are doing the jab as my nan went there this morning and when she made the appointment they told her she was lucky to get in!
As for the Rubella thing-SNAP!! When I was pregnant with my first the blood tests showed up no immunity so the day after she was born I had a booster jab for it. When I was pregnant with baby number two the same thing-no immunity so day he was born had another jab. Then surprise surprise baby number three-no immunity!! Day he was born another jab. I'm guessing that if I were tested now it would be the same again! I guess sometimes your body just takes or rejects tings in different ways Suspect

Thanks for the replies. I have ordered my flu jab and it seems I was given incorrect information, so hopefully they wont charge me when they get it in! The only thing is my Dr's appointment is tomorrow morning and it doesn't look like i'll have it in time for that. I can keep it up to a week in our fridge though. In the mean time I have a hospital appointment so I may have it for that. Baby due at christmas so time is getting on!

Well, what a farce. Luckily I have finally had my flu-jab! The Drs managed to get in a very low egg one, which I had only a small amount of discomfort. The nurse was less abrasive when I saw her. I think she believed I was being an awkward patient for a while, but realised that I had been waiting since the end of august for it being delivered, and that I am pregnant! Maybe she was stressed on the day?
