It's been 19 years since I had to pack for a hospital birth, and I'm not sure what to pack. When I had my first we had to stay in hospital for a week so if I'd forgotton anything there was time for one of my family to pick it up for me. It's the quantity of what I need to take that i'm not sure of, ie. how many nappies should I take in? How many breast pads and maternity pads? So far i've packed in my bag: 2 towels, 2 nighties, 2 pairs of socks, 5 pairs disposable briefs, 1 box breast pads, 2 packets of maternity towels, thin dressing gown, slippers, toothbrush, toothpaste, travelsize showergel, shampoo, deo, change for carpark/phone, hairband and lipbalm and small hot water bottle to aid backache. I know I will need clothes to come home in but that will be whatever is clean and in my wardrobe nearer the time! (I take less when I go on a weekend away!) I can't pack my meds yet as I use them.)
In babies bag I have changing mat, about 30 nappies, wipes, cotton wool, soap, sudocreme, a couple of bibs and muslin squares, nappy bags. Will I need to take my own formula and bottle if I cant breastfeed and if so how do I sterilise them in hospital? I have clothes etc for the baby but want to wash them first so they are clean and soft. We have a car seat and cosy plus a snow suit as it's due boxing day. Any further suggestions, or even if you think i've packed the wrong stuff would be appreciated. x
