MMR triple jab - did yours have it?

Hey folks

Sorry not be around for a while. This pregnancy and toddler lark is keeping me busy Smile

Have a question for you all. Did you let your little ones have the triple jab MMR? We're getting Sophie done on Friday and I'm terrified. The reason is that a friend of mine back in 1999 is sure her son became autistic after the jab. Jas had hers then too and she's absolutely fine (they are the same age). I know all links of this have been totally disproved (not that there really were any in the first place) and the doctor struck off but having seen this happen to someone who is so convinced has scared me with Sophie. My hubby also knows someone at his work who, again, swears blind his son 'unlearned everything within a week after the MMR jab' so you can see why we're just a bit paranoid!

Sophie is now 21 months old and a real bright little button. You're going to say I'm bloody stupid but I'm terrified of anything going wrong with the jab and her being affected. We did look into single jabs but you can't get the Mumps and none of them are regulated in the UK.

We've spoken to our well respected doctor about MMR and he recommends it. He was really good to us and wrote to a leading paediatrician he has the utmost respect for to ask him to contact us to have a chat about it and he duly did and was very understanding but said his children have all had the injection and he would recommend it.

I'm still scared.

Did you all find it was no problem? Any bad side effects?

Please don't think I'm stupid but I can't help worrying.

So far Mike's is the only one to have his MMR, we only do Men C, Polio, tetanus and dip, then they just get those until they are two. Jamie cannot have his MMR (or jabs in general) and we haven't been able to get Pippy done yet as she keeps getting really bad colds with a fever.

My two were fine with it, George had a slight fever the first time round afterwards, but nothing some Calpol couldn't kick for him.

Although when George had his pre-school boosters he became ill afterwards (literally from walking out of the drs to getting him in the car), the dr said it was because he must have already started with a cold but it wasn't showing symptoms, then his jab just made it worse. He was ill all over xmas and had a mouth full of ulcers, but he was fine after that.

The one I didn't get George to have was the Swine flu! he was due that one 3 weeks after his pre-school boosters and he was still poorly so I told them not to bother. I never made another appointment as I didn't want him to end up poorly again.

Mine have had it done. I was worried too with my first as there is autism in my hubby's family and I thought that might increase the chance of my kids being affected but my older two were fine and my youngest is having his this month.

My daughter is getting her mmr jag next week and am getting her hers.

Funny you should say that your friend is convinced that her son became autsictic with it as my cousin has 2 boys and both boys had the mmr jags and my cousin is convinced that her youngest got autisim through the mmr.

Am not to worried if am honest...

if you are unsure then just delay until you feel ready, take an extra week or so to think.
