u need to leave her to scream im afirad hun! i did controlled crying with DD when she was a few months old but i enver let he sleep in my bed - sorry im totally against children sleeping in with parents - partially coz of the problems it causes!
i know it sounds harsh hun but its the only way! u just pop in a check on her and tell her calmly to go to sleep and leave her - u keep checking on her eventually leaving longer periods between each check!

i agree with sugar. u'r going to have to let her cry and everytime she gets out of her bed, put her straight back.
i wont be easy but u will get there hun.
i also disagree with kids sleeping with parents, it can cause all sorts of problems.
GOOD LUCK! Very happy

Keeley developed Bronchiliolitus over xmas and was admitted to hospital. When she came home her breathing was terrible so i couldnt let her out of my sight. She spent the 1st couple of nights in bed with us. Then we put her in her carseat next to the bed so she was upright and was still near to us.
When she eventually got over the worst of it and we attempted to put her back in her nursery, she found it a bit unfair and had other ideas. so this is how i tackled it...

i kept to the same routine... bottle, kisses, cuddles and then straight up onto her nursery. I laid her down in her cot, told her that i love her blew her a kiss and walked out (leaving her light on dim). By the time i was near her door she was holloring at me, screaming and sobbing and believe me i felt awful. i sat on the stairs and counted 5 minutes.

5 mins went by and she was still going for it hammer and tongs so i walked in very calmly, picked her up, held her close for about 5 secs and then laid her straight back down again. This went on for about 20 mins the 1st night until she gave in. 10 mins the 2nd night and by third night she had realised that by screaming, she wasnt going to end up in our bed.

It might take a few days, and ur little one might disturb the baby in the evening for a few nights....but within the week...they should both be sleeping and it will be worth it....i hope it works and i hope it helps

i know she is still small but maybe if you chose some paint or pictures together so she feels like its really her room and she helped design it. could it be that she thinks the new baby has taken her place in your room? may be you could start off by putting her in her bed and staying there with her and then gradually stay less and less time and decreasing the contact while you are in their. good luck hon i hope you manage to sort it out. x Smile

thanks for all your replies. she was in her own room to start off with. she pulled a freshly made cuppa tea of the table an she burnt her head and back, an she had very bad blisters. took her the hospital an they told me to keep an eye on her. then her head suddenly got really swolled. and its since then that she has been in my bed. that was when she was 11mnts old. i think i will try an lie on her bed

good luck hunni i know how hard it is my 2 yr old daughter had open heart surgery last june when we got her home from alder hey hospital i couldnt bare to be apart from her so she slept with me and my partner was sleeping in her bed i think its was more for my comfort at first as i realy thought i was going to lose her when she was in intensive care so i didnt want her being away from me when i knew i wasnt gonna lose her but after a few months she was fine and it wasnt fair on her dad having to sleep in her bed all tha time and me and my partner didnt get anytime on our own i spoke to my health visitor coz she wouldnt settle in her bed then and she said i had to be cruel to be kind and use the controled crying method it worked even though it hurt me to do it she was fine after a few nights Very happy

Unfortunately it sounds like you need to be very strict with her and explain that she has her own lovely bed. Let her pick a bed cover out herself, it worked with our 2yr old when we had to make him go into a divan instead of the cotbed. We had to put our youngest son in with his brother at 7mths and he used to wake 5/6 times a night, in the end our eldest learnt to sleep through it! At 1 yr old the youngest only wakes 1/2ce a week now...hurray i at least get some nights sleep!

Oh Sammi, my mum can totally understand how you feel, she made the mistake of taking me into her bed every night when i was a baby and i refused to sleep in my own bed until I was 5... You need to make your DD sleep in her own bed or ot will only get worse, I still remember my mum screaming and shouting at me to go to my own bed when I was about 3 and all I could think was why is she angry with me, her bed is where is sleep. I wouldnt want any other child to go through those feelings. Please try to get her out of it for her sake as much as yours.

Big hugs and kisses.

Please don't put her bed into your room-you are just asking for more trouble. (another think , stage to go through with her) Have hubby sleep in your bed with baby in your room, and you move in to daughter's room but get your own mattress. A few nights of sleeping in her own bed but seeing you are nearby may help.

Sammi, I would agree with Noababy (susie has 5 kids so she know what she talking about!!)I think you should sleep in your LO's room for a couple of nights just until she gets used to being in her room again then you can wait until she is asleep then go sleep in your own bed!

Good Luck honey you ahve all my love x x x
