We were told if you miss the deadline thats it, they miss out on the money.

I think they set it up in an account for you but you have no choice of where or what kind of account.

Alex is correct, if you look at www.childtrustfund.gov.uk it says "If you don't open an account before the voucher expires (the expiry date is printed on the voucher to remind you), HM Revenue & Customs will open a stakeholder CTF account for your child. You will be sent the details of the provider with whom the account has been opened."

We forgot about Georges as both sets of GRandparents had set up accounts for him. Next thing we got a letter saying that he had had an account set up with Nat West for his CTF. WE've never bothered paying anythng else into it as we don't have a Nat West anywhere near us and like I said, he already as accounts from both sets of Grandparents and we don't see why he needs another one.

When this baby comes we're planning on giving my mum all the info and she can then add it to the account they will be setting up for baby.

I forgot about Charlotte's due to moving house and they were new when I had her so she was about 6 months old before we got it.

Georges was accidentally shredded so I had to wait until the government invested it into an account of their choice.

Both are in different accounts and earning nothing Wink
