Packing my hospital bag.....

I am sure this is a bit early, but I am a great one for planning. I'm 33 wks, and thought I might pack my hospital bag. Maternity pads question though....in Tesco they look HUGE! Anyone recommend any that actually aren't so big that everyone will know you are wearing one when you walk out of the hospital? Smile I am sure it will be the last thing on my mind. But which are the best to buy?

I was naughty and only used maternity pads for about 8hours after Joseph was born (bascially over night) I bled alot during my labour/delivery and didnt bleed alot afterwards. I just used sanitary towels(I also stopped bleeding very quickly as well.) I think all maternity pads are HUGE!! But believe me no-one will be looking at the lumpy bumpy bits in your knickers- they will have baby to look at.

I have been using boots own, the big ones are 98p for 10 and i dont think they are noticeable and then its 1.98 for 12 of the smaller ones. Hope this helps x

I would recommend the boots ones too. They are massive but believe me, if you are bleeding a lot then you need them. They look worse than they are. Once you are dressed no one can tell. Better to be bulky than leak anyway.... Smile
I used them for two weeks and now I am using Always for the last dregs. NICE!

you aint daft packing your bag at 33wks. I packed mine at 28weeks and am due next thurs.

I agree they look huge so i bought (i think its...) kotex or summit like that night time ones. they look big enough. May go and buy another pack to be on the safe side....

you are not supposed to use sanitary towles because of the chemiclas in the them, amternity pads are softer and contain less chemicals.

Something to do with signs of infection too, can't tell with normal pads so you have to use maternity pads for the 1st few weeks.

I used Always plus after I had George and had no problems. Is this a new thing about not using sanitary towels? Must nip into boobs and get some Maternity pads. I think I only bled heavily for the first few days then it was like a very light period.

I wouldn't worry about using the Maternity ones as everyone else will be lol Also no one can see them under your clothes as I was paranoid about that when I was in hospital and kept asking Ronnie if he could see the outline lol

I knew with Joseph not to use sanitary towels- but choose not to listen and do my own thing.

well dragged my b/f into superdrug the other and bought 3packs of 10 anyway. Is 3 packs to much or am i right in guessing its gonna depend on your body ie how much your gonna bleed etc?

I think you should be fine with 3 pks of 10.It does depend on your body and how much blood loss you have.I took 4 pks of 12 and ended up giving two of them to my sister when she had my nephew?
