As for the birth - OMG!
Brief story - because I need to share:
Saturday night at 23:30 I was just looking at my eBay auction - to find the item had sold as a buy it now - when my waters broke.
We went to the hospital to be checked out and the midwife put me on a tracing machine for 20 mins and then said we could go home. She booked me in for induction for Monday morning if nothing was to have happened by then because she asked me if I was feeling anything and I said - "Just a few little twinges."
We got home at 1:30ish and tried to go to bed but my 'twinges' were annoying me so I got up.
I left Mick in bed to try and sleep and I went into living room - where I put up with my 'twinges' until 5:00.
Mick had got up a few times to check on me and at 5:00 when he came through I was crawling around the floor trying to cope with the pain. I told him I did not care if I was a wimp but I needed help as if hurt a lot. I had timed the contractions as 5 mins apart but they had been 5 mins apart for hours and I did not think they were lasting long enough.
Anyway - he called the midwife and went in to hospital.
At 6:20ish they did an internal to see how I was getting on. I had had no drugs or gas and air yet as I was still not sure what was going on - only that is hurt. So I was expecting to be about 5cm..... I was in fact 10cm! Which explains why it hurt.
So I started pushing - and pushing - and pushing - and 4 hours later still no baby and they could not work out why. I was shouting a lot as I had no drugs at all and only used the gas twice.
On he third internal they realised that the baby was sideways and not turning so she was trying to sholder barge her way out and it was not possible. So They finally - hurrah- realised I could not get her out (I was quite distressed by this stage as I knew it should not take 4 hours in the 2nd labour stage and I thought I was being useless) and took me to surgery and I had a spinal and with the aid or forcepts, ventouse and an ACE doctor we got her out!
YAY -
Anyway... the doctors were brilliant and my midwifes (I had a trainee and an experienced one) were ace. It was the trainees first delivery so I apologised for all the shouting.
So that is my story - I am torn and bruised. My head hurts and my ankles are swollen. I have had no sleep. And is it THE BEST FEELING IN THE WORLD.
