Pulling at one ear

Sophie has, in the last 3 or 4 days, started pulling at her right ear. She kind of folds it in half and pulls it. She doesn't do it much but I immediately wondered if it's an ear infection? However, she has no other symptoms. She's eating well, sleeping well, playing, etc. She doesn't cry if I touch her ear and she has no excessive wax (she does have slightly waxy ears both sides though anyway).
I've heard it could be the start of an ear infection (wouldn't I see some other symptoms?) or just a new thing she's found. She's not constantly touching it or playing with it, it's just something I notice she does during the day once or twice.
Anyone else had this around 6 months?
I am wondering whether to just get it checked at the docs (although I hate wasting their time if it's all fine) as we're flying next week and I know that you can't fly with an ear infection!

Could be the start of an infection, pulling on an ear is a big signal. It might also be a teething thing.
Get it checked out-better safe than sorry

Have a feel of her gums, she could be teething, likely to be an ear infection though so get her checked out.

Her first tooth has popped through this morning
I took her to the doc, ears are fine. He thinks it's either the teething or her new toy!
She's had no upset with this tooth. Let's hope the rest are as easy
