What is 'child led weaning'?

I've seen this terminology pop up a few times now but really don't fully get this. What is it exactly and how does your baby lead you with weaning?

From what I can gather, it's something to do with just given them 'chunks' of food, not puree or blending.

Anyone actually done that? It seems to go against everything the HVs tell you Suspect

Child lead weaning doesn't include giving the child food, otherwise you are pushing them to eat, child lead weaning is allowing the child to nurse for as long as nature intended, normally at 12-18 months. None of our children have ever had pureed food, it hinders the development of the gag reflex and they are far more likely to choke than on chunks of food.
With Pippa she sits at the table with us while we eat and if she wants to she is able to grab something on our plate to eat it, now she will sometimes chew the odd thing, normally she spits it out but she has swallowed the odd bit of carrot.

Ah, so it is just missing the puree'd phase.

Just thought I'd ask. Happy weaning Sophie as I'm doing and did the same for Jasmine and she's a fine young lady Smile Just heard it bandied about a bit lately about this child led stuff.
