Not producing enough milk - anyone have spare?

Hi

I'm having real trouble making enough milk for my baby. I only seem to be making a couple of oz from each and I really wanted to avoid formula. I was hoping there might be someone close to Retford that might have a little spare to either give me or sell me?

go to Holland and Barret and but some fenugreek and start taking 3 capsules 3 times a day to boost your supply

also feed often - take a nursing holiday where you spend the day in bed feeding and watching films - the more you feed the more you will make

2 cups of fennel tea a day can help with your let down

also some people who have plenty of milk to feed baby can not express a great deal of milk out - dont judge your milk supply by your expressed amounts

if your baby weight is an issue go to the doctor and ask to be prescribed domperidone - its an indigestion tablet that increases milk supply - i had to do this and without it i would never of been able to breastfeed how i am now

dont give up - its worth fighting for

I agree with Soup. I was also worried at first that Sophie wasn't getting enough as I often seemed to only be able to express 2oz and wondered if she was ok? She grew just fine and I ensured that my own fluid intake was good and also that I was taking time to eat myself (which wasn't always easy or top of my list!).

If you're really struggling, seek out a breastfeeding counsellor at your local NCT or hospital.

Don't give up hun. It's really worth it to carry on Kiss

Thanks for your replies, I'll try the fenugreek. Still might have to try the formula in the short term though Sad Face

OK, I've got some fenugreek. Not very nice but I'll persevere!

Yeah I would stick with it. Feeding more will increase your supply and make sure you are stay hydrated...lots of fluids!

I agree with soup: also some people who have plently of milk to feed baby can not express a great deal of milk out - dont judge your milk supply by your expressed amounts

Also, as long as your LO weight is fine I would keep at it.

Good Luck!

Hello

Not sure about the herbs hon, give up if they taste like that.

Increase supply by drinking plenty of fluids and having baby at your breast as often as possible. If you start to top up with formula your supply will diminish further.

Feed from one side, then the other, as much as the little mite will take. Then try to express a couple of drops from each side. Over time you wil be able to express a little more, thus increasing the production.

Don't stick to a set feeding routine, feed on demand.

Hope this helps hon.

Try adding Moringa Olifiera in your soup, Asian women use that to enhance their milk production. I hope it will increase yours too. Some also consider massage to activate the mammary gland.
